Re: Boston College Law Class of 2017
Hey everyone, congrats on being accepted to BC! I'm a current 3L and I'm moving home to take the PA bar after graduation. I wanted to reach out on here and see if anyone was looking for an apartment in Boston for the months of June, July and August. Most leases in Boston start September 1st and can be a real pain when 1L orientation starts in August.
I live right on Commonwealth Ave, near the intersection of Comm and Chestnut Hill Ave. The location couldn't be better, as the B line and BC Shuttle Bus both stop right outside our front door, and it's an easy walk down to Cleveland Circle for food, and to catch the C or D lines. The apartment itself is one bedroom in a HUGE three bedroom unit with a front yard, back porch, grill, pool table, two bathrooms, free washer and dryer in the unit, and parking included. The bedroom is in great shape and has two closets, and I am also looking to get rid of some furniture (specifically a desk and desk chair that have served me well through three years of studying, outlining, and Facebook whining).
The rent is very reasonable, includes parking, and my two roommates who will be staying here through the summer are also soon-to-be BC Law grads, who would be happy to answer any questions that a soon-to-be 1L might have, and make sure you're comfortable getting ready to start in the fall. Additionally, our landlord is great, and if you liked the place, we could definitely speak with her about renting the unit to you and two others when our lease ends in August. We've lived here all three years and she loves renting to BC Law students.
If you have any interest, please shoot me a message and we can discuss specific details about rent (it's crazy-cheap for the area), utilities, etc.
If you guys have any questions about BC don't hesitate to ask. It's a special place, and I've had an incredible time here over the past three years...I can't recommend it enough. Thanks!

We worked with Warren Shipwell of Channing Realty in Harvard Square (Weichert), but the place we ended up getting was listed by Exclusive Realty (Walter Frankel) in Newton. Considering we had two pets and two cars to work with, there weren't a lot of options, but we were successful and got through the process surprisingly fast. If you want to live in Newton or Watertown, I would recommend Exclusive. I imagine they list properties in Brighton, Chestnut Hill, Cleveland Circle, etc. as well. Also, I called BC's off-campus housing office and they had good tips about realtors in the area.
Good luck!
Thank you! That helped so much I've kinda been lost with the apartment search haha I'll definitely look into those realtors and call BC as well!

Re: Boston College Law Class of 2017
anyone have any info on the housing fair? I have two roommates lined up but was planning on finding one more at the housing fair. However, I'm living close to Cleveland Circle now so I'm worried I may be shooting myself in the foot by waiting for June 20th when I could in theory be making appointments to check places out now.

Two questions for my fellow BCers:
1) Does anyone know off-hand if BC Law students are eligible for the MBTA "Semester Pass" program?
--LinkRemoved--
or, alternatively, any other student/discount MBTA programs?
2) When are applications for Grad+ typically done?

Checking in. I could use some advice on whether or not to get a car while out at BC. I'll be living on the edge of Newton and Watertown, about a half hour walk to BC Law Campus and ~5 minute drive by car. I'm relatively close to a bus line that stops in front of the law school, but as someone from out of state, I'm not super familiar with how great/reliable the bus system is and would love some general advice on if it's worth having a car or not. Thanks!
Can't wait to make the move to Boston!

I have a car I'll be using for about a 30 minute commute. Know that there is a parking permit fee for something like $250 a semester. Talk about nickle and diming us.tryagainkaz wrote:Checking in.
