Considering the ED scholly and considering LSN, it seems that NU gives 150k rather than a full scholly. As my interviewer described, "[NU] likes you to have some skin in the game."paglababa wrote:oh shit, got my scholarship. Anyone get a full? What's the highest possible scholly, 150k?

Nice. I would appreciate if anyone with 150k from the AJD program would PM me to confirm it has been awarded. Or higher, though it seems consensus is that 150k is highest.whereskyle wrote:Considering the ED scholly and considering LSN, it seems that NU gives 150k rather than a full scholly. How do you guys feel? The acceptance window is so early, I'm not sure right now about what to do. I wish I could extend it until mid April.

Mine was significantly lower than anticipated, though not all together unsurprising considering my numbers. Not sure where to go from here. Congrats to everyone else who got what they were hoping for!

No aid offer yet. Annoying how there is no statute of limitations on your undergrad gpa screwing you over. Will have to seriously consider alternatives. Bummer. Still looking forward to the Open House tho. See you all tomorrow!

Re: financial aid. I know several AJDs who have negotiated their financial aid packages. Be sure to do that. You can find information in other places on TLS. Also, if you need an extension on the deposit, you can email them explaining what / what you need. They have made exceptions in the past. See you tomorrow.

Do you think they will give an extension to April? What should one mention? Ok to say I am waiting for a scholarship at another school that I have an interview for?fruitoftheloom wrote:Re: financial aid. I know several AJDs who have negotiated their financial aid packages. Re: Northwestern AJD Class of 2016
I was in a similar situation last year. They did give me an extension until April...it was kind of messy because I found out about the scholarship interview after NU had already given me a two week extension, so I had to ask for another, which they were nice enough to give me. It ended up not helping that much anyway because the decision timeline for the other scholarship ended up going past mid April, and NU had given me until April 10 or so.paglababa wrote:Do you think they will give an extension to April? So, my advice would be to ask once, and be careful about the date you select. I did tell them about the other scholarship interview just to explain my hesitation (I tried to make sure and convey my sincere interest in NU and that I wasn't asking for the extension simply as a back up plan or place holder, and that I just needed some more time to make an informed decision). Good luck.

I gave a tour of the law school and sat on the "Career Guidance" panel. I thought the prospective students asked a lot of good questions and I think we delivered candid, honest answers. I think visitors heard a lot of good flavor from the panels and hopefully enjoyed meeting Dean Rodriguez and attending the other mock class sessions.mirroroferised7 wrote:Okay, can we get some reports on the AJD ASW? I think the take-home message was that the AJD program, especially the first summer, is intense and that the 2-year duration can be a good fit for those with work experience, who may want to reenter the work force more quickly. However, in this market, you must make getting a job after law school a top priority and take your career into your own hands. No one is going to hand you a job. You need to go out and grab one!
Happy to answer more questions as you get closer to the deposit deadline. Good luck!

For anyone that may be looking for a visiting admit to chime in, I will say MrHart's description was accurate. It was a pleasant and informative day, and the student panelists were very helpful. The admitted AJD's that I met were also impressive.

Yup, agreed. Definitely underestimated the camaraderie shared by the AJDs (both within graduating classes, and across graduating classes).kcdc1 wrote:For anyone that may be looking for a visiting admit to chime in, I will say MrHart's description was accurate. Also, if you've managed to successfully negotiate your scholarship up (to 150k?) please pm me!

On a more positive note, has anyone yet made the plunge? I need to have a sense of my social options before committing. If, say, pompoms is out, that deposit might look awfully hefty.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
