When did you submit your application?Vexed wrote:I too am on the waitlist. My original email said around now is when we should see some movement.bloomingtea wrote:Anyone on the waitlist for the lawyers club? Any movement/news?
I only submitted recently, because I was accepted off the waitlist. Hoping to get off this waitlist too! I've heard optimistic and not so optimistic news. Will probably get to looking at different options this weekend just in case.

Re: Michigan Class of 2017
I used Cribspot.com. Just signed a lease last month. I wanted something within a half mile of campus and I was able to find a few different places, despite even being severely limited because I have a dog. A lot of them will say "contact" for price, and also may not have many pictures, but call them up and they will give you the details and usually can provide more pictures. If it is one of the bigger apartment companies (CMB, Bartonbrook, PMSI, there are a ton) they probably even have more listings that aren't on the website.cron1834 wrote:Yup.MichPlease wrote:Any other recent waitlist accepts who have absolutely no clue where to live? If you are looking for a nicer place than a typical student housing duplex, I know quite a few people recommended living a mile or two south of campus and taking the bus in, i can't remember all the names, but you can read through the "Michigan students taking questions" thread to get some of them - I believe Woodbury and Harbor house were two of the main ones. I think Woodbury has a direct bus line right across the street that gets you there in less than 10 minutes. Personally, I'd rather have the convenience of living next to campus.
I am no expert but did just go through the process and got quite a bit of input from current law students, so let me know if you have any other questions.

Yeah and if you do get parking 90% of the time you will be paying for it. There are some surrounding neighborhoods you can sometimes score street parking in.... but people pack the cars in so there is a descent possibility of your car being dented or scratched when you return =/kimkardashian wrote:Is it very rare to get parking on campus?

It is extremely difficult to get Michigan to change your residency status if you applied as an out-of-state student. There website explains ALL of the qualifications you must have to gain residency and they are not really easy to bullshit.Clemson772 wrote:Are any "out-of-staters" going to attempt to get in-state tuition, or know of anyone that has, for 2L and 3L? The requirements listed on the registrar's website make it seem like it's pretty hard to get.

They have a lot of houses.
For apartments, luxury: Zaragon, Zaragon West, and Landmark
Not so luxury: U-Towers
Granted I was only there for undergrad so I don't know what the law school student atmosphere/situation is, but all of those apartment buildings are close enough to the law school.

Anyone else living in Woodbury? I have a dog, and it was one of the few dog friendly places

Not in the LC, but also super excited to start. Anyone else not living in the LC with a lease contract that starts 9/1? It seems to be the norm, and while they say there may be a chance to move in early I am not sure what I will do for orientation if its not ready. Possibly get a hotel for a week?Vexed wrote:Finally got a spot in the Lawyer's Club today... PS, this thread is sorry as compared with some peer schools. First round of drinks is on me when I get to AA.

Has anybody heard any communication regarding Grad PLUS loan applications, or should I not expect anything? Would it just pop up in my Michigan Access page?

Go to admitted student's website:
Financial Aid dropdown menu -> Loans -> GradPlus Loan Subsection -> Follow Hyperlink "Grad PLUS loan application" to pdf that has instructions.
