I went to the one in DC! It was great! Helped solidify my Berkeley choice!

There were admitted (for the most part committed) students, alumni, admin staff, and Dean Tom also made the trip. Since I hadn't had an opportunity to attend ASW, it was a great way to meet future classmates, talk to alumni, and get a sense of whether their experience at B could inform my decision.

I still visited the campus in addition to attending the reception. But the latter significantly made an impact on my decision-making process.

They should be releasing Matching decisions tomorrow, since May 8th was the last day in their projected timeline.

I got an email the other day from Berkeley:

Sujit Choudhry, a renowned expert in comparative constitutional law, has been named dean of the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law. Choudhry, the Cecelia Goetz Professor of Law at New York University School of Law and founder of its Center for Constitutional Transitions, will begin a five-year term beginning July 1, 2014.

OP'ing this thread was a totally random decision. Looks like some excellent foreshadowing now. Just accepted my offer!

On Berkeley Law's housing page, there is a website --LinkRemoved--. about staying in the residence halls when you are in the area looking for housing. However it does not seem to be working for me. Does anyone else seem to be having this problem?

Way to take until May 15 to tell me that you're not matching my scholarship offer

Officially committed to the class of 2017!

I've been living in Oakland for the past two years, and will continue to do so during law school. If anyone is considering doing something similar, feel free to message me about specific neighborhoods in Oakland. I have a large 1000 sq ft apartment in a 4-plex in a very cool/trendy neighborhood, and I only pay $800 a month. It takes me about 35 min to get to Cal via bus (which is free for students), or if I drive it is ~10 min away.

I highly recommend going the Oakland (or Albany, Lafayette, El Cerrito etc.) route. I went to Cal for undergrad and had my share of overpriced, tiny, disgusting apartments close to campus.

No. Student housing is a total ripoff for mediocre furniture and carpeted concrete floors. And the worst offense of all student housing: SINGLE beds. I have some friends who lived in International House for all three years, and frankly I don't know how they did it with those crappy dorm rooms and beds.
