Vanderbilt Class of 2017!
There wasn't one of these yet and I'm too impatient to wait for one (forgive me for being bad at pictures)
--ImageRemoved--
Important Dates:
-Seat deposit due May 1st ($750 non-refundable)
-Final official transcript due August 1st
Admitted Students Programs:
-March 14th and April 4th (details to be sent out by email in Dec.)
Scholarships & Financial Aid:
-Law School Merit Awards (no deadline-all apps considered) decisions typically commence in Feb.
-Need Based Form priority deadline February 17th (http://www.needaccess.org/home.aspx)
-Law Scholars applications due January 13th (form available at http://law.vanderbilt.edu/)
-Raymonde I. Paul International Legal Studies application due January 13th (form available at http://law.vanderbilt.edu/)
-Loan notifications go out in March.
VLS Financial Handbook:
http://law.vanderbilt.edu/prospective-s ... -overview/
Questions:
-Email admissions@law.vanderbilt.edu
-Phone (615) 322-6452
I would include more but I feel like the big ol' book sent out with the acceptance packet covers almost anything else you'd need to know as far as food & entertainment, apartments, etc.
Having only visited Nashville for my tour and interview at Vandy I probably won't be very helpful with any questions but there is a questions thread for Vandy students: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 4&t=189961

Thanks for starting this!
Accepted for 2017 and Vandy is one of my top choices. Love their high clerkship numbers and everything I hear about the cooperative student community. Still waiting to hear back from some other schools, but would be very happy if I were to go here!

Have you visited Nashville yet? I went down for a tour and interview and really loved it. I've heard the same things about how friendly everyone is not just from admissions people but current students too. Now just anxiously waiting for scholarship infoZipWhenSheMoves wrote:Thanks for starting this!

I've been before (my boyfriend's family lives in and outside of Nashville), but not on Vandy's campus and not since I've started looking at law schools. Definitely planning on visiting and taking that all in.OliveBC wrote:Have you visited Nashville yet? I went down for a tour and interview and really loved it. Did they give any information on when they'd send the money details? February?

Checking in! If I'm lucky enough to get a decent scholarship (decent for me meaning $100K or less for tuition/fees), and none of my other choices offer me something amazing, I'm pretty sure this is where I'll end up. It's my clear number 1 choice without taking $ into account.

Re: Vanderbilt Class of 2017!
Zip- Yep, everything I've received says scholarship info is sent out in February...although I'm going to be anxiously hoping we don't have to wait that long! I'm not sure if February has been typical in past cycles or if we can expect to know sooner.
AT9- I will be crossing my fingers for you! I'm also waiting on scholarship money to make a final decision but if I get close to what I'm looking for (and like you said no other crazy offers elsewhere) Vandy would definitely be my top choice!
I hope to see you both there next fall

Not that I know of... Can anyone just make it or is there usually an official one the school makes at some point?jk148706 wrote:Is there a Facebook group yet?

Re: Vanderbilt Class of 2017!
Thanks, and good luck to you as well! People who got in with my numbers got an average of $40K-ish according to LSN, and so far I've exceeded the averages on every offer I've received so far. Hoping/praying it holds here as well.OliveBC wrote:

Anyone know a good place for a married couple to live that's not crazy expensive or a long drive away from campus?

Re: Vanderbilt Class of 2017!
Welcome Jules & LSBound! I'm sure as scholarships come out the thread will get much more active
AT9- I've been looking at renting a house as well but most of my knowledge is coming from my own zillow/trulia research. I would say it depends on what you consider expensive and how long a drive is too long in your opinion. I've seen some relatively good prices for 2/3 bedrooms in Hillsboro and Sylvan Park but I haven't really checked out the neighborhoods in person at all. There also isn't a lot open right now...hoping that will change by the time we'd be looking to start renting.
This would probably be a really good question for the Vandy thread on the Ask a Law Student board, I'd be interested to know what they had to say as well

I know right?! I felt like it was speaking directly to my heart with all the renting info/where to eat stuff...I've been prematurely researching places to live for months (no joke) and this was seriously helpfulGraham42 wrote:Checking in. Was accepted beginning Nov. but finally decided to post since I'm really thinking I'll be choosing Vandy next fall. Love the school, city, people. Also, the OD in the admission packet is #CLUTCH

Re: Vanderbilt Class of 2017!
Re: housing, look at the Obiter Dictum admissions sent you. I think its in the big box. It has really good info and I picked my apartment based on that mostly.
Most 1Ls live within walking distance from campus, but there are some other options if you're willing to drive. I live in Bellevue, which is a 20-30 minute drive depending on traffic, but my apartment is in a fully-gated complex and is bigger, newer, and generally nicer than what you'll find around campus, and my rent is about what I'd be paying to live with a roommate near campus, perhaps a bit higher. But I don't have a roommate (unless you count my wife).
All that said, if you like going out to the bars and drinking several nights a week, living in Bellevue would probably be a bit of a drag.

On the Law School Merit Awards Application http://law.vanderbilt.edu/prospective-s ... onForm.pdf, it says that they are due on January 10th.OliveBC wrote: Scholarships & Financial Aid:

Law Scholar awards are completely different. They're the name-endowed full tuition scharships that require a separate app. Regular merit awards are given normally after you're accepted.mylifeis24 wrote:On the Law School Merit Awards Application http://law.vanderbilt.edu/prospective-s ... onForm.pdf, it says that they are due on January 10th.OliveBC wrote: Scholarships & Financial Aid:

One is normally created closer to the deposit deadline. It's geared towards people who are definitely attending and in the early weeks it's almost all people looking for roommates.californiauser wrote:Is there a Facebook group?

From the email I just got it looks like they may have made the 2017 Facebook page but I'm on my phone so I didn't try to get to it yet.

Working on the law scholars merit awards application atm. For those of you that have completed it or are currently working on it, how long did you make each answer?
