When do most people secure housing? I'm living in Texas right now and won't be able to make it out till the summer. Would I be better off looking for something on campus or off?

On campus housing is extremely limited, so you will probably be looking at off campus. I would say about now is when most people probably have secured or are in the process of securing housing. However, there are several that won't know they are attending UVA until well into the summer. You shouldn't have a problem, you may not end up on Arlington, but you should be able to find something that fits your needs.

New UVA health insurance e-mail has 13-14 premiums listed. 14-15 can be found at http://www.virginia.edu/studenthealth/i ... m1415.html. It gets worse in just about every way possible, just like 13-14, but at least the premium goes down 5%.

Just think, with how excited you all are right now, this time next year you won't want anything to do with law school for a very, very long time. Maybe ever.

just got a housing offer from Copeley. it's a 3bd/1ba @ Farrish circle so I guess 8 min walk to law school? I'm hesitating to take it since three people sharing one bathroom sounds terrible though I'm not too picky on this issue. But the school says i get to know who are gonna live with me ONLY AFTER I sign the lease which is binding...So far it's only guaranteed that those two roomies are also graduate students @ uva. On the plus side, it's close to law school and SUPER CHEAP. $367/mo with all utilities included and it's furnished.

Should I take it? Any advice, suggestions, thoughts? I need to give them my response in 25hours from now...

thanks~~~

I say go for it. It's cheap, close to the school, and the bathroom thing sucks but you'll get used to it. Also, it's only 9 months if it doesn't work out.

It's not that bad. A tough year for sure, probably the toughest year that any of you will have experienced (was for me) but you make friends, and you learn a lot. Just come in to it with the right mindset (understanding it is going to be a full comitment, everyday) and you will be fine. Have fun and enjoy it.

It's an emotional trip, that's for sure. Breaks you down but never really builds you back up. I guess if you had to go to law school, uva was probably the best choice though

No problem! And if your roommates end up not being law students, that's not necessarily a bad thing...just saying :P .

Yeah - I guess I should change that. It really isn't that bad. You're going to have to study harder than for anything before, and you'll walk away wishing you had more time, but at the same time glad it's done. If you grinded hard enough on the LSAT to get into UVA, you can grind hard enough to survive 1L. Just don't let yourself get too wrapped up in it and you'll be fine.

Hey all,

I am having some trouble locating a place in C-Ville for next year. I'm looking for a 1BR/1BA that is within 8-10 minutes of the law school, closer is better (I have a car so it could be walking or driving). I don't want to pay more than 1100 inclusive of utilities, but I'd prefer something in the 900-1000 range.

Where should I look? Names of complexes would be really helpful! So far, I haven't found much that isn't the Pavilion, and that seems really expensive to me for what you get. Plus, I'd like to not have a roommate 1L year.

Thanks!

Hey everybody. Apologies for ducking in here. For anybody who is definitely attending UVA as a member of the class of 2017: I work for a startup that operates online case briefing and networking tools for law students. We're currently looking for a campus rep for the upcoming school year. The pay is good and the work is minimal. If you think you'd be interested in chatting with me about this, or talking with one of our current reps, shoot me a PM.

I like the living situation one. I'll try to update tonight when I'm off my phone.

I'll be there the first week of August. Want to give myself some time to explore the city and get my grounding before getting buried in reading.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
