Woo welcome!
Does anyone know whether watilist admits are guaranteed on-campus housing? It seems all 1Ls are, but when I completed my housing app it said that I had priority over some students (guessing 2Ls and 3Ls) but wasn't guaranteed housing...

Stanford rising 2L here:
And lastly: it's in California.
Stanford is so much fun--your decision is no real decision at all.
There are people that got in off the wait list in late august and were able to get Munger housing. Stanford will give you 10 days of on-campus short-term housing in a poopy residence called Ujaama in the event that you need it, but it will be worth it when you move into the palace that is Munger. You got in really early off the wait list, there's between a 150 and 4000% chance you're getting into Munger before the year starts, so no need to stress.anagram wrote:Woo welcome!

Are you a lay prestige whore? If so, S might not be the best place for you because we're all pretty chillax about everything (not to say that we don't have lay prestige--we just don't feel the need to sing it from the mountaintops). Also: way better at placing for clerkships, amazing weather all the time all year round, smart people that are fun to be around, sports teams/football games in the fall, a general prevailing understanding that even if you get all P's, you can still work in BigLaw in pretty much any market you want, devoted and active alumni base willing to help in any way they can (perhaps arising out of the small class size and fewer people generally asking the powerful/successful among the alumni for favors).gottago wrote:Everybody return TTT (to this thread):

As long as you aren't a Stanford undergrad or masters student (they get dinged in priority), you will get into one of your Munger choices. I would junk the other 3 and keep only Munger on your list because it is so convenient and clean and new and amazing--and you wouldn't want to be placed somewhere else more remote--and just ride out the wait. June admit is super early and they do housing assignments in batches until like September, which is when they start doling them out as soon as they come up. You can also call the housing office and ask where you are on the Munger wait list: I'd speculate that if you're 20-25 or below at this point in the summer you're still good to go.

Re: Stanford Class of 2017
So got assignment today, little disappointed - Oak Creek Apt.
I applied for reassignment to Munger.
Anyone have any tips of working this process, or is it just wait and see?
Also, how common/necessary is it to get a bike? Is commuting via car really a huge pain (I went to an UG where it wasn't a pain, but the best parking pass was also 1/3 the cost as it is at Stanford)?

Re: Stanford Class of 2017
I'm surprised, I got Munger -- it was not my top choice, as I'm trying to stick to a lower housing budget than that. Looks like EV was filled up!
I also got an assignment that is strictly 9 months, which was not my preference, as I hoped for the flexibility of renewable year-round housing.
I'm trying to decide if it's worth a reassignment request... Munger does seem really beautiful and convenient...

Hi Instinctive! I'm in the *exact* same situation as you; I was also disappointed because I pretty much only ranked Munger and really wanted it. Applied for reassignment immediately thereafter too. Will put in a call on Monday to see.Instinctive wrote:So got assignment today, little disappointed - Oak Creek Apt.

I got Oak Creek and I'm pretty bummed about it... I wanted to be on campus really badly. My gf and I wanted a one-bedroom, and we got a little studio. :/thestatusguo wrote:Hi Instinctive! I called housing and they told me that at this point, the only way to get reassigned is if someone cancels and that's pretty unlikely to happen before the quarter starts. Additionally, even if I cancelled my couple contract and reapplied as a single, he said that they probably wouldn't have anything for me. I gave up a bunch of money and a sweet apartment to come here, and they don't have anywhere on campus for me. but hey I guess that's the waitlist for you.
any advice on looking for apartments outside of Stanford Housing?

Is anyone else having troubles accessing Stanford's housing portal?
