At this point for 2020 - how long for a turnaround?
Considering it is nearing the end of April and for applications sent out in the past month or two, how long do judges generally take to extend interviews at this time of the year? I hear some say wait until May, or "June and July will be busy" with extending interviews/offers. But I also get the sense that 2020 is filling up fast (and has been).

also curious about this. Are non-feeder circuit judges moving at all right now? Are judges waiting for June when hiring plan starts?

I interviewed a few weeks ago for 2020-2021 COA, offered less than a week later. so short answer is "yes."
slightly less short answer is it completely depends on the judge, so I wouldn't read much into my own quick turnaround.

In my [D. Ct.] chambers, we are going to continue accepting applications until the day when 2L apps become available to us (I think it's some time in June?), then we will be doing interviews and stuff in late June (and early July, if needed). We will extend offers before the end of July.

It depends. My non-feeder circuit judge just started interviewing candidates for 2020 (all non 2Ls) but has not yet extended any offers. My district court judge in a major metropolitan area has been full for 2020 since September or October and hired at least one for 2021 (again non 2Ls).

My non-feeder circuit judge is similarly waiting until June to hire for 2020 (but probably won't wait until June next year to hire for 2021)

Hold up - all of these circuit judges who are waiting to hire for 2020 until June?? Who am I missing? Anyone want to tell me which circuit these judges are in because I've gotten the impression that most circuit judges have filled their 2020 spots.

I just ran a generic search on OSCAR for Circuit Court judges with available openings starting in 2020 and came back with 79 results. Glancing through them, I see a variety of windows to apply, and many that end in June or later.Anonymous User wrote:Hold up - all of these circuit judges who are waiting to hire for 2020 until June?? My experience is probably a little atypical, but it may be instructive. I applied for a federal clerkship in February of last year. Got the call for the interview on August 29, interviewed on September 7, received and accepted the offer on September 13, and started October 15, 2018. This is my second clerkship and in both instances the judges made their decision about a week or two after the interview. With my current clerkship, I thought that I did not have a chance in hell, but once things started moving they moved quick.
