Filling gap years before district court term in 2019-20?

Post by Anonymous User » Fri Sep 22, 2017 11:42 pm

I interviewed for the spot last week. Surprisingly, I received an offer for a non-2/9/DC federal district court clerkship. The trouble is...the offer stands for 2019-2020. I can't find information regarding legal opportunities during multiple gap years.

Should I accept the offer? The obvious answer is yes (see *s below) but how can I leverage this offer for a job? Do I have a shot at BigLaw? Fellowships? COAs? Does this make me a more attractive candidate to New York law firms? Federal agencies?

I desperately need help, even if it simply points me in the right direction.

* Sat for the UBE in New York (no legal ties)
* Graduated top 25% from a regional law school (non-NY)
* Excellent LORs
* Good work experience in law school

I'm a bit nervous about revealing too much information, but please tell me if I need to include anything else. My CSO is ill-equipped for this situation.

Wtf is non 2/9/D.C. District court clerkship. Like d Montana > d mass or d Vermont > nd ill

Definitely worth mass mailing with the clerkship in your cover letter and forthcoming on resume
