FWIW, I didn't send thank yous during the OCI process, and am now reapplying to essentially the same big firms.
Have you gotten a callback? I would think it would be the same -- unnecessary. I can see sending one to anyone you really hit it off with at the firm though.

I don't think it is necessary.

One callback just before Christmas and haven't heard anything yet ... Two others scheduled for later this month.

Ah - just checked my email and got my rejection a few minutes ago as well.

I was under the impression it was so easy to get a job after a clerkship. I'm starting to feel like this is going to be challenging.

Plus this is after getting rejected from DOJ Honors. And none of the AUSA positions seem to be open to clerks who are recent graduates. Feels bad, man.

Ha, I feel the same way. I didn't even get "referred" for a position with an agency I previously summered with and was exceptionally qualified for.

Don't despair (yet)! Maybe the floodgates open after mid-levels complete their shuffling and firms re-evaluate. At least that is what I want to tell myself.

I had a firm that I am applying to ask me for a list of references, for which I asked my judge if I could list her, and she said yes. I imagine that if I end up with an interview, they might call her. Otherwise, I don't think it would be appropriate for them to call without you first listing the judge as a reference.

That being said, if they do ask for references and you don't list your judge, that's usually a red flag.

I've gotten dings from Fried Frank and Gibson Dunn (both D.C.) this week.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
