Re: 2019-20 Clerkship Application Thread
I have to assume its in the late summer/fall. I was thinking that many of the 2019 applicants must be current 2Ls with D.Ct. clerkships. And if that's the case, they will be working at firms shortly and I can't imagine leaving for clerkship interviews would be something anyone wants. Relatedly, I just had a CA10 interview and the judge suggested he would begin reviewing applicants for his "second wave" in a few months.

Won't 2/9/DC be moving over the summer?

Probably. Watford just set up his clerkship openings and I believe he finished hiring really quickly last year. It's apply via e-mail. I suppose I'll try again but I'm not holding my breath for an interview lol.Anonymous User wrote:Won't 2/9/DC be moving over the summer?

Re: 2019-20 Clerkship Application Thread
If my experience for the 17-18 term is any guide, hiring for 19-20 should pick up late May through early July. I base that on when I got interviews for 2nd and 3rd circuit clerkships. I applied mid-May and interviews started rolling in late May. I finished interviewing in mid-July. I got some belated interviews in the 4th and 10th circuits, but that was late Fall.

Re: 2019-20 Clerkship Application Thread
Judge Watford's clerkship begins on June 1st according to OSCAR. I have a district clerkship lined up for 2018-19 beginning in September. Does anyone know if June is a hard start date for Watford? If so, he is out of the question because I don't want to ask my judge to leave 3 months early. I realize he is probably already out of the question lol but doesn't hurt to try!Anonymous User wrote:I've heard Watford is early Junelolwat wrote:Probably. Re: 2019-20 Clerkship Application Thread
My friend was contacted by Watfords chambers last year for a possible 2018-2019 interview but his 2017-2018 clerkship went until August. Chambers told him that the June start date was not really negotiable so the interview never happened. Just one sample but possibly indicative?

Re: 2019-20 Clerkship Application Thread
That's a shame. I was really aiming for Judge Watford specifically (and a few other Ninth Circuit judges). Also, not surprised. I know someone who Watford hired and he couldn't take the bar because his clerkship position started so early.Anonymous User wrote:My friend was contacted by Watfords chambers last year for a possible 2018-2019 interview but his 2017-2018 clerkship went until August. Re: 2019-20 Clerkship Application Thread
Moved to Clerks Taking Questions thread.I recently accepted a district court clerkship for the 18-19 term. Before I got the position, I applied to a few circuit court judges as well for the 18-19 term and I now want to apply to those same circuit court judges for the 19-20 term. How do I update my application? Do I apply for the 19-20 term and not mention my previous application? Do I just submit a new cover letter?

I just saw that Judge Jerry Smith only hires clerks with no experience. That sucks. I would have loved to clerk for him. He seems like a great boss.

Howdy. Does anyone have hiring stats/ info for Judges Keith Ellison or Lee Rosenthal in Houston? Hoping to clerk for either of them in 2019-2020. Thanks!

Re: 2019-20 Clerkship Application Thread
Ellison usually works as a gap filler for clerks who already have circuit clerkships.HugsNotDrugs wrote:Howdy. Does anyone have hiring stats/ info for Judges Keith Ellison or Lee Rosenthal in Houston? Hoping to clerk for either of them in 2019-2020. Thanks!
Rosenthal likes UT and HYS and Chicago. For those, she wants ~top 25% and really likes having a publication. Also expect to work 364 days per year for her.
