FYI, I got an email from Burroughs saying that she's looking for two years of experience post-law school (which I don't think was on her OSCAR profile when I applied).
Interesting. Recently?
Yes, probably two weeks ago

Burroughs e-mails recommenders thanking them for taking the time to recommend applicants as well. Don't know if it's for competitive candidates or standard operating procedure.
Wow, did the people you know of who had their recommenders contacted by the judge get interviews yet?

Anybody get a flat out rejection from Burroughs unrelated to post school experience?

I think Gibbons (6th Cir.) just finished hiring for 2018-19.

As far as I know, they haven't been asked to interview. They did express their thoughts that their recommenders were impressed by the personal note as they were as well along with myself.

He's interviewing for 18-19
Can confirm Judge Bea is interviewing for 2018-2019. Does anyone know if he has extended any offers? Or anecdotal evidence of how many interviews he has done? Asking for a friend...

Any other information on why he is bad to work for? I haven't heard that per se, just that he is maybe intense.
Has Judge Bea made any offers that anyone knows of?

Has anyone heard back from Judge David Carter (C.D. Cal.) since their interview?

Anyone get a call today? Assuming if we don't hear today then it's a ding.
He appears to be following his OSCAR post.

Negative. Is he known to hire mostly from HYS?

No. He actually has trouble drawing from those schools because of his reputation.

I have heard this as well. He mostly hires from the T-14, particularly from NYU, Berkeley, and Michigan it seems. I am just wondering how long to wait before giving up hope.

Reputation for? Being a conservative? or being an intense boss?

I think both of those things. I think he's just a fairly intense person. He apparently sometimes makes offers within a few days, other times its a week or 10 days. I have also heard that he is not in the business of formally rejecting anyone until they basically call/email and ask.

It's not his conservatism. Do Kethledge, Gorsuch, Sutton, or Kavanaugh have problems drawing from those schools? Hint: the answer is no.

My understanding is that he hires outside of Chicago, but only if it's on the recommendation of someone he knows and trusts. If that opportunity were available to you, my guess is that your recommenders would probably let you know about it.

That comparison was to Carlos Bea, not Easterbrook.

For those who unsuccessfully applied to Kearse, did you recently receive a signed letter in the mail? I'm just wondering if she does this for everyone, or only those deep in the running.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
