Pryor has already hired for 19-20, although unsure if full or not.

Can anyone confirm Jordan has interviewed? What about offers?

I know that E. Carnes has filled at least one spot for 2019.

Both Pryors have filled at least one 2019 spot.
Martin has done some interviewing as well.

According to OSCAR for William Pryor:

"The judge has already hired for the 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20 terms."

So I assume he's all full for 2019-2020?

Yep. I thought I had read that on OSCAR, but I couldn't remember for sure.

Agree that CA11 moves slower than other circuits, but it's wrong to suggest hiring season hasn't begun yet. More than half the circuit has begun hiring/interviewing for 2019 (e.g., Jordan, Rosenbaum, Martin, Tjoflat, etc.).

Agree that CA11 moves slower than other circuits, but it's wrong to suggest hiring season hasn't begun yet. More than half the circuit has begun hiring/interviewing for 2019 (e.g., Jordan, Rosenbaum, Martin, Tjoflat, etc.).

I'm surprised to hear this, but I'm sure you have more info than I do.

Is Judge Hull actually still hiring for 17-18? It says there is one open position on OSCAR.

No Eleventh Circuit judges have posted anything regarding 2019-2020 on OSCAR. From here it seems that several are hiring. Also, most of the Eleventh Circuit judges don't have any information on what to include in an application packet (number of LORs, WSs, etc.).

I want to begin applying but am not sure what I should do. Should I only apply to those judges who I know what they want in terms of application packet. Should apply to everyone (except Hull, because he only hires a year out--I believe). Any advice is helpful!

For example, Judge A. Jordan does not have any information on OSCAR (or anywhere else accessible from what I can gather) regarding what to include in an application packet or whether he is hiring. But according to this forum he has already hired for 2019-2020. Should I just send an application packet anyway with the typical information?

As a side note, why would a judge do this if she or he is hiring? Seems like a lot of inside baseball. Why limit the number of applicants and possibly miss out on one (or two) who would be a better fit than the applicants who are in the know?

It's also reported that Judge Hull is taking senior status. She tends to hire closer to the start date of the clerkship.

If you don't know and can't reasonably find out a judge's hiring timeline (usually you can-just call chambers and ask), you might as well send an application with the usual items (cover letter, one-page resume, transcript, writing sample around 10-15 pages, and three LORs). The worst outcome is that you're not hired (i.e. the same outcome if you never applied).

As lavarman notes, there is no shortage of quality applicants. If you search around this forum, you'll find a thread in which clerks described the typical number of applications. District courts in tertiary markets and without OSCAR posts often get several hundred applications. You can imagine how many applications a circuit judge gets.

I have no inside info, but common sense suggests the timeline will vary depending on the term in which you're interested. If you want to clerk in 2017, ie next month, presumably you'll want to get your app in immediately after confirmation. If you're a law student thinking about 2018 or 2019, youll probably have several weeks (or more).

OSCAR still shows E. Carnes with a vacancy for 2018. Anyone know if that's accurate?

Does anyone have any updates on Newsom? Is it too late to send him an application for the 2017 year?
