Anybody heard anything from B. Martin or E. Carnes? Are they reviewing yet?

Martin is done for 2015 already? That's surprising.

There was an earlier discussion on him. He's had two of his clerks go to Justice Thomas (one from UVA, one from Georgia), but the consensus was that both of those clerks had ins with professors at their law school. So if you're applying to him hoping he'll connect you to Justice Thomas, that probably isn't the best bet. (Certainly if he wrote a recommendation that said something like, "He's just as good as UVA Clerk who you had clerk for you in 20XX," that would help. But really, from the little I know about SCOTUS clerkships, you have to have someone who the Justice will take a call from or actually care about an email from. It's not clear that Carnes has that relationship right now.)

Had a friend who clerked for Judge Carnes who loved him. Thought he was a great boss and generally even keeled about things.

I don't know first-hand, but I have a close friend who interviewed with Carnes. He didn't mention a BlueBook test. If it had happened, I think I would have heard about it.

Can anyone confirm whether Jordan has already hired for 2015-2016. Oscar shows that the positions are open, but this has not been an accurate indicator in the past.

At least one of those spots is for 2016-17.

1 of those is an "older offer." The other was within the last 3 weeks or so. I don't know when the offer was made in relation to when I found out.

He made an offer a while ago to someone Judge Barkett hired before her quick departure.

That was the old offer I was referring to. The other 1 was a bit more recent.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
