Hi! Is anyone planning on commuting to school from Long Beach or a nearby area? I am trying to look into options and it would be optimal if I could get a carpool going. Let me know!

Hi scootz. I haven't found mine yet but have been scoping out areas. I'm looking basically north of the 10 anywhere west of school. Alternatively I'd go ktown or north of downtown. I may go a little further, though, and look Glendale or South Pasadena. Alternatively I could go east of L.A. as far out as Upland and take advantage of the price reduction for commuter passes, or just utilize the 10 fasttrack lanes. So, basically, yeah, I still have no idea where I'll be living. :)

Alternatively, again, I could maintain a residence much further out where rent is cheap and see if a bunch of other commuters would be interested in sharing like 4 people to a 1 bedroom apt to use as a crash pad near campus. This could either work very well or very poorly, depending on the group. Has anyone else considered this idea?

smart move... the closer the better. You should be living in the library anyway (unless home is a better study environment)

Yeah, i basically looked West of the 110, North of the 10, South of the 101, and East of the 405... it forms a little square in LA near the school.... Its also up to you, but I assumed I would end up hating the traffic, and random accidents on the freeways would probably make you late to class occasionally. For those reasons I would advise against living as far out as Upland, however, the choice is yours in the end. :D

Got a nice little scholly bump, so I'm finally 100% in on LLS. Sadly, it seems that most of my friends have moved away from L.A. since I last lived here, so... anybody need a new friend?

Nice work! Hopefully they wont make you fight to keep it with a GPA contingency but even so just be sure to apply a lot of the TLS wisdom and folks like Arrow. Congrats.

I'm looking for a place to live. Besides the housing guide Loyola offers, is there a way we can find other incoming 1L's that are looking for roommates?

Hi all,
First off, congratulations on your acceptance to Loyola! I am starting my 2L next year and really enjoyed my 1L year. I am trying to sell my 1L books that some of you may need. The editions I have listed are being used this semester. Books are really expensive so if you're interested in buying my used books, reply to thread.

Criminal Law 9th ed. by Kadish: I bought mine new. There is highlighting and writing but overall in very good condition
Asking $120

Civil Procedure 4th ed. by Ides: same condition as my Crim Law book
Asking $110

Property 7th ed. by Dukeminier: Used- probably the 3rd person to use this book.
Asking $50

To any rising 2 or 3Ls that might be lurking, can anyone advise if the "recommended" materials are useful to a degree that merits a purchase?
