If you are paying for tuition with federal loans, you don't have a choice: The loans are distributed to the Cornell bursar, who then takes out tuition and fees for the semester (as well as health insurance and gym membership for the year, if you have signed up for those in advance; the same is true for the bus pass in subsequent years) and then disburses the balance to you. If you add your checking account to your net pay account and designate it as your disbursement account you'll get it directly deposited in your account every semester going forward.
Thanks, that's what I figured. Health insurance, gym membership, and housing (Hughes) were all on the bill. I saw the credits exceeded the debits, figured I'd get the balance deposited to the checking account I linked, said "ok" and exited without looking at the tuition payment plans.

Ah, that makes sense. That's what the "refund" question is for. I actually have a citibank bank account, which doesn't exist in Ithaca, so I have to switch to bank of america and have my leftover loans, post-tuition, directly deposited into that account. Thanks for the clarification!

Just saw this. Good to know. I am bringing the Seinfeld Complete Series with me. There must be a Seinfeld drinking game out there somewhere.

If it's a TV show or movie, someone has made a drinking game for it.

As a decade-long BofA customer, don't go with them. If you're opening an account for that purpose, go with one of the local banks. They don't nickle-and-dime you to the same extent. That is, go with them until you get private banking through your firm. 8)

This made me check my housing app and it looks like my roommate changed.

So are you living in Hughes or are you sticking with the apartment? Because I figured out who you are on facebook and my new roommate has the same first name as you.

I'd rather live in Hughes to avoid the down payment for the apartment; I'm trying to get in touch with the landlord to see if I can get off the hook. Shoot me a PM ill let you know the room they assigned me to.

I saw somebody had posted on the FB page about meeting up for an exploratory hike prior to orientation.
Thinking I might check that out.

Nice Lavitz. Anyone have any idea which professors are supposed to be chill and which aren't? I'm sure it's in the "Students Taking Questions" thread but I really don't feel like combing that right now.

Off the top of my head? No idea. You're right that the same questions about profs are asked in the taking questions thread every time schedules come out. I'm sure current/former students can answer.

If you want, you can also sign up for CLSevals and read those reviews. Probably not worth it until we get section assignments though.

Since you can't choose your professors, I wouldn't worry which ones are "chill." Instead, once you get the assignments, focus on trying to understand what makes that professor tick and how they test. This is something you'll gradually figure out during the semester.
