Hahaha I've seen in other threads that some people find it odd that others bring family, especially if they're obnoxious, over-involved family members.... but honestly... Who gives. If the school allows it, do whatever you want! I mean, when else is your family going to visit you at your school and maybe even have fun with it? And if your family is pitching in financially, then I think it's fair.banana$$stand wrote:magp90 wrote:RSVPed for the open house on the 23rd! Is anyone else going?

I'm going, but for everyone's sake, I'll probably be leaving the wife and kids at home. They're super-cute and all, but you don't want to be around at 3:00 if nobody gets a nap...

Congrats on the cash!REkinci wrote:Just wanted to pass on some scholarship/negotiation info
Was awarded $30,000 (10 each year). Asked for more money and it was increased to $45,000 (15 each year). So it's definitely worth asking
What basis did they use to offer you this amount - was it your GPA, your LSAT, other? Did they state why they offered you what they did? (Just trying to get some more info. and a better idea of what might be coming my way). Thanks!

Are we going to get to sit in on a class on the 23rd open house?

Here's a cool factmagp90 wrote:hahaha if they don't call you guys Night Owls, then they most definitely should! Congrats on having everything work out for you!The Lucky One wrote:Well, my employer has officially agreed to let me work from home and slightly adjust my hours, so I'll be sending my acceptance shortly! I'm another evening divisioner (or do they call us Night Owls?).
Temple (and Temple Law!) started as a night school ONLY (hence the OWLS)!

Re: Temple U - Beasley School of Law c/o 2016/2017
For what it's worth, Temple is now at #56 in the USNWR rankings -- upped two places from last year
5th in Legal Writing
12th in Part-Time Law
2nd in Trial Advocacy
Last year it was 12th in International Law, but they locked the stat for this year, so if anyone knows what it is, feel free to share.

PA is kind of difficult. I'm pretty sure that you can't necessarily claim residency in PA for just academic purposes. You have to be able to claim ties there and prove that you're there for reasons outside of education. Maybe if you can find a way to show them that you will stay permanently in the area?revlawyer wrote:What's possibility of obtaining PA residency for 2L?

Haven't committed yet, but I'm looking at their extensive trial program. And you?
Just so you know the intellectual property speciality is a joke. Professor Post is obviously a rock star but Temple just abolished it's Science and Technology Journal after the faculty decided there was no "interest" in the subject. Be wary Temple is not IP friendly.

I'm not doing IP to get into technology -- I just need the background courses in order to apply for certain programs in my field which isn't scientifically related... It's a real shame that that's happening, though.

Re: Temple U - Beasley School of Law c/o 2016/2017
Did anyone else receive their preliminary award letter via email today? I didn't request it, nor have I sent in my seat deposits, but they sent it to me anyways...
I'm not familiar with how this works exactly, but they awarded me loans up to the in-state cost of attendance ($42,620). I only plan on needing half of that, so how do I tell them I won't be needing everything I was (preliminarily) awarded?

I'm probably going to go to most of them, however, I think a few run concurrently to each other.. so obviously I'll go to one of the two.banana$$stand wrote:Is everyone going to all the events on the 23rd?

And yeah, I'm also a little bummed by the lack of chatter guys!

I'm not interested in IP, so its not really relevant to me, but they kind of played it up when I visited. My student tour guide said they were changing the Science and Tech Journal's name, but he didn't know specifics yet and when it was brought up with admin they didn't know anything about it. Not trying to say you're wrong. I really don't know anything about it, just showing the response from Temple when I visited.stressed2010 wrote:banana$$stand wrote:magp90 wrote:For the sake of conversation, what kinds of programs/specialties are you guys looking into at Temple?
