I'm still working on getting permission to work part-time, but my employer seems receptive to the idea. Is anyone going to the admitted students day on February 19?

I can't because of my work schedule, but I'll definitely be going to the open house on March 23rd. I'd really like to see a class, thoughscaredredpanda wrote:I'm still working on getting permission to work part-time, but my employer seems receptive to the idea. I'm going to try and sit in on a class too and will also be attending the March 23 open house. Very excited about Temple and can't wait to start!

Definitely want to make it to the open house, and I'd like to sit in on a class at some point too.
Anyone know if there are any specific technological recommendations/requirements? I didn't see anything on the accepted students page to that effect. I'll probably get a new laptop for law school, and I have a friend at Lenovo who could probably get me a deal, but I don't want to reach out to him until I know a little more about exactly what I'm going to need it for.

I don't think there are technological requirements, so you're probably safe doing whatever makes you comfortable. The Lucky One wrote:Anyone know if there are any specific technological recommendations/requirements? How do you negotiate scholarships anyways? threaten a withdrawal? Not that I'm going to do this, just curious.

If you have other schools that have offered you scholarship email the offers to temple and ask them for a little bit of help.red52 wrote:REkinci wrote:magp90 wrote:Got the Law Faculty Scholarship. To all the evening people: you're going to switch to working part-time, from full-time?
If accepted into the evening program, I was planning on continuing to work FT and attend Temple PT in the evenings.

No, I'm continuing to work full time. I was allowed to adjust my hours slightly (8:30 to 4:30) and work from home on days I have class so that I can make the commute by class time.jvsj wrote:To all the evening people: you're going to switch to working part-time, from full-time?

My brother-in-law worked full time while attending evening law school (not at Temple), but his daughter wasn't born until his last semester, while I already have two. So I'm thinking it'll be a little tougher for me.

Re: Temple U - Beasley School of Law c/o 2016/2017
I just got permission from my employer to work 28 hours per week beginning at the end of August, so I will be working part-time for at least the first two years. My coworkers think that even 28 hours/week is too much, but I need to make enough to cover my living expenses.jvsj wrote:To all the evening people: you're going to switch to working part-time, from full-time?

gotcha. they think 28 hours is too much for part-time law school?
doesn't that defeat the purpose of the part-time/evening program though?

It wouldn't be rude/pushy (obviously depending on how you do it, but if you're worried about sounding rude/pushy, chances are you aren't rude/pushy). Moving on!Keasbey wrote:So I have a scholarship negotiation question. I already emailed a request that listed scholarship offers from Drexel and Rutgers Newark, but I recently received an offer of 20k/year from Villanova. Should I bring that to their attention or would it be rude/pushy?
It's basically like updating a resume after sending in your application. Just make sure that the committee can link the update re: Villanova to the message about Drexel and Rutgers so that it doesn't look too out of the blue. Other than that, you should be all set.

Haven't committed yet, but I'm looking at their extensive trial program. And you?

Nice! From what I understand, Temple has a strong reputation for trial advocacy, so that's great.banana$$stand wrote:magp90 wrote:For the sake of conversation, what kinds of programs/specialties are you guys looking into at Temple?

I'm looking into their International Law/Intellectual Property programs. There are even some courses that combine the two, which is exactly what I want.

Just wanted to pass on some scholarship/negotiation info
Was awarded $30,000 (10 each year). Asked for more money and it was increased to $45,000 (15 each year). So it's definitely worth asking
