Ugh. When we were walking home the other day, I looked over there and thought about how great it was going to be to have that opening this year.Regulus wrote:http://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/20131213 ... f-planning
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu... And after all those rumors that it was supposed to open in the summer of in 2014. We'll probably only get 1 (academic) year out of it before we graduate.

Re: Chicago Law Class of 2016
To be fair, they said Fall 2015 pretty much from the beginning. It's odd, though. The lot sat basically empty since about year before y'all got there; Village Foods closed over a year ago. Now that it's winter they seem to have decided it's a great time to start construction.Regulus wrote:Yeah, I know. My wife found another site that said that "2015" = "fall 2015," which sucks even more.elterrible78 wrote:Ugh. At least this part of town is slowly getting better. That new place A10 (LinkRemoved) on 53rd street is supposed to be decent, and then we've got that wings & gyros place going in a little further down the street as well. According to this, we're also supposed to be getting Yusho (an American Japanese restaurant) on 53rd street this summer too. I am kind of jealous of the future classes at the law school who will get to have all of these amenities for their entire 3 years.
(I personally think that getting the Whole Foods in where that empty lot is now will help make the neighborhood a little safer - even if only in appearance.)
A10's aight. Respectable, would recommend. The wings and gyros place is, I believe, Hyde Park Gyros rebranded. Yusho looks awesome. The coffee shop that was there previously was turrible.
Reg, I know you're joking but you've got no idea how good y'all kids these days have it. Places that didn't exist when I started undergrad: Sit-down, Shinju, Litehouse, Treasure Island (was the Hyde Park Co-op, which if you can imagine was actually worse than TI), Five guys, Clarke's, Zberry, Chipotle... pretty much all of what's currently on 53rd street minus Rajun Cajun, Ribs'n'bibs and Mellow Yellow. On the other hand, no more hookah lounge.
I guess it's getting "better" but I sincerely hope HP doesn't turn into Evanston South.

Nothing can be worse than Treasure Island. I'm a big fan of Sit Down though.

Imagine Treasure Island prices with rotting produce and half-full shelves. That was the co-op.Crowing wrote:Nothing can be worse than Treasure Island. I'm a big fan of Sit Down though.

Dayum. I figured TI only got to do their ridiculous markups because they're so "European" or something.beepboopbeep wrote:Imagine Treasure Island prices with rotting produce and half-full shelves. I'm not looking at that shit, but whose bright idea was it to post the memo before grades come out? I hope that's not standard practice.

2. The deriving of pleasure, or the tendency to derive pleasure, from being humiliated or mistreated, either by another or by oneself.

And I hope I bolded the right one.

Throwaway for semi-obvious reasons.
Congrats to everyone who did well, and condolences to all who are disappointed.

Does anyone have a copy of the key with the rolling percentages for each honors range? I suppose I could order a transcript and find out myself, but was hoping someone has it handy. Just want to satisfy curiosity.J.D. Honors
Honors are awarded to J.D. students at graduation based on final cumulative grade point averages as follows:
182 and above: Highest Honors
180.5 and above: High Honors
179 and above: Honors
Ranking
The Law School does not rank students. Students must not provide estimates of their class rank on resumes, in job interviews, or in any other context. A key on the back of the transcript provides information about the rolling percentage of students graduating with honors.

Are those numbers inclusive of the higher categories? Like is 22.7% just people with exactly honors or people with honors or above?Emma. wrote:It isn't even one person every year. Some years no one gets highest honors.Crowing wrote:Lol @ "0.5%"

I think non-inclusive. So a total of ~30% graduate with a 179.5 or above.Crowing wrote:Are those numbers inclusive of the higher categories?
