Does anyone know when we will know how much financial aid we are eligible for? I don't just mean merit-based scholarships (because I likely won't get any of those), but also student loans.

Also, for the student loans, is the total amount stated above by Papi ($73,959) the maximum amount of loans we can take out each year? I am just wondering because $1,132.50 ($13,590/12) per month for rent, utilities, food, toiletries, etc. seems a little bit low for someone with a family (I know they only consider the law student himself/herself in their calculations, but still). Does anyone know how all of this works out?

Admitted today RD. I'm super excited because I wasn't expecting to get in (169 third try/4.14/non-URM), but I'm not letting myself get too worked up because I think the cost of attendance is going to be too steep. I don't know if I could justify turning down $90,000 and other similar scholarships at MVP to go to Chicago at sticker (I don't think I'll be getting merit aid with my numbers)

I know most of the people in this thread here so far did ED and are obligated to attend regardless if they get scholarships or not later. So I'm curious - What made you decide to do ED and possibly attend at sticker and pass up the possiblity of scholarships at another T-14?

I EDed Chicago for several reasons, I didn't have very strong numbers for CCN and was hoping ED could give me some boost in application. Also, I am interested in interdisciplinary work between law and economics, there is no better place than Chicago to do that...

Is anyone here actually leaning towards gov/public interest? It seems that Chciago is dominated by BigLaw/Clerking, but they still have a very good LRAP. That apparent discontinuity confuses me.

I am. I wrote all about my commitment to PI law in my personal statement and also discussed it at length in the interview. I think the seeming discontinuity is a reflection of the law profession at large--with the vast majority of lawyers employed in big law.

The changes in LRAP and the guaranteed summer funding are part of a relatively recent shift to give more support to PI/government-minded students, and numbers of students pursuing that are on the rise. You all can also contact Dean Perry if you want to talk to a current student (this goes for all accepted students, if you want to talk to a student that went to your undergrad or wants to work in a certain area, she can try to connect you). And again, this thread is a great reference.

Howdy, folks. I'm in the fight of my life to figure out how to make it to ASW. (NU's is literally the preceding weekend, so I can either keep that flight and ditch half of the events to at least make it down to UC to tour, try to change my flight, or fly to Chicago twice in a little over a week.)

If you can't make it to ASW, the Day in the Life programs are also good. And keep in mind Chicago will reimburse $200 of your travel expenses!

Although if you end up coming during not-ASW, I would be more than happy to show you around.
