Someone mentioned that the class schedules would come out the week of August 12. Where exactly do you check the schedules?

On the Admitted Students site, click Section Assignment under Quick Links

It says there we won't get small section assignments until the registration session :(

Does that mean we pretty much have to get the books for the smaller sections from the bookstore? Wednesday looks like a longer day so if you don't get home until Wednesday nigh to order books they may not show up until Tuesday afternoon which doesn't really help if you have class Tuesday morning.

You can always supplement with the course reserve at the library until your books come in. That's my plan. No way I'm spending $200 on a book.

Yeah I'm not dropping $200 on a book - suppose we could return it to the bookstore after the amazon order arrives, depending on their policy.

The amazon prices don't seem drastically different from the bookstore prices. Has anyone found a solution to that?

Wow, the used prices have gone up in the past month. A significantly cheaper option is doubtful - craigslist is a longshot

Same. I'd email Res Life if you haven't gotten yours yet.

Contracts book is ~$150 new and CivPro is ~$200 new on Amazon. Legal Research ~$100 new. I'm hesitant to buy used books - aren't they most likely going to be heavily marked up (not price-wise, you know what I mean)?

Is anyone else thinking of renting books?

how do you know what books to get for legal research since we haven't broken into subsections? they all have the same book?

Hey folks: cheaptextbooks.com. Use it for the books.

Personally I'm going new to avoid crazy marks - it's worth it at least while i square my study habits away in first semester/1L. Plus, you can sell them used after!

Also, still haven't heard any news about assignments to our particular prof (mine is conlaw). So either Gtown is late, or the person I spoke to on the phone was out to lunch. *shrugs. Sorry guys!

Pps, anyone here in DC on Saturday? Fancy a drink in the evening? I'm moving in that day!

There's only 2 profs even though there's like 10 sections. Both profs have the same books listed, but one prof has an extra book that is not required by the other prof. At this point I'd just buy the 2 that are required by both.

Used casebooks on Amazon on heavily marked up. I purchased about a month ago because prices were low - paid about $200 for three casebooks. BUT, two have lots of highlighting, and the other has underlining and tons of notes in pencil. I may re-sell that one.

Does anyone know if there are any upcoming meet-ups or get togethers? I'd like to meet some of our fellow classmates, but my request to the facebook group has been stuck at pending for weeks.

We should do something this weekend since I know a lot of us are getting into town! I've been here for about two weeks now, obsessed. Def down for drinks on Saturday, Bfalcon.

I haven't seen anything in the fb group but I'll post if I do!

This was posted in FB group today:

As you all know, we have a dinner at Mandu (the K St location) tonight at 6 (and possibly karaoke after, as Brad suggested). Hoping to see a lot of you in four hours!

Anyone down for something on Saturday? Luxxe and I are doing drinks! I'm also facebookless (and will remain that way), so I'm a bit out of the loop when it comes to events...

I don't move to DC until the weekend of the 23rd, otherwise I would definitely join you. Any interest in another round of drinks as the semester nears?

PI Fellows emails just went out (with visible emails, and the list seems pretty long).

Looking forward to meeting some of you there!
