Admitted during last year's cycle but deferred to this year. Can't wait to meet everyone. Anyone else living in the lawyer's club? Looks a little pricey, but since I live currently in Miami, the prospect of not having to walk outside in the cold everyday is very enticing!

I just submitted my app for the LC and got an email guaranteeing me a spot I just visited a few weeks ago, and it snowed, and walking around in that mess definitely cemented my decision to just go for the dorm.jrthor10 wrote:Admitted during last year's cycle but deferred to this year. Just making sure, Michigan does not reimburse for ASW right? I did not see that anywhere.. I know some other schools do. Every $ helps .dislikeCeltics wrote:zoidberg86 wrote:The March one and staying through Sunday is supposedly where its at.shntn wrote:My ASW budget is quickly running dry, but I do hope to make it out to one of them!

They don't, but once you get to Michigan, it is fairly inexpensive. They are providing hotel rooms at a cost of $20 / night and providing all meals for free.
Wish they'd help pay for my flight, but at least the hotel is cheap.

Anyone know the exact deposit deadline for summer starters? I know it's in my offer letter sitting at home, but I figured I'd ask here. It's not the same as the first deadline for fall starters, I'm assuming.

i can't find any pictures online of lawyer's club...can anyone link/direct me? i'm definitely interested in staying there if attending mich this fall, but will we get a chance to tour it at ASW or see pictures or something? I was all gung-ho about living on-campus at Berkeley (another possibility for me) and after seeing the terrifying Manville/Ida Jackson pictures I'm off-campus if I end up there.

The Lawyers Club has been closed all year ,as it's under construction. I assume that this means large scale improvements over what it used to be, but it also means there is a degree of not knowing what you're getting. Pros I have heard include it being obviously very close to campus and having meals made for you during the week. Cons include price and it only being a 10x12 room (or something very small like that).twinkletoes16 wrote:i can't find any pictures online of lawyer's club...can anyone link/direct me? i'm definitely interested in staying there if attending mich this fall, but will we get a chance to tour it at ASW or see pictures or something? aw shit. 10x12 is not gonna cut it for me. i had an 8x12 dorm prison box my senior year and it was claustrophia-inducing.

Re: Michigan Law Class of 2016
Congratulations!!!!
I have a 1BR (Studio) apartment across the street from the law school in an all law student building available for summer sublet! It is private and has air conditioning. Rent includes all utilities (including wireless internet) and a parking spot. Available May 16-August 15. $600/mo. (price is somewhat negotiable, because I know your exam dates are after this date--some of you may have apartment leases starting before then, so I thought I would give it a try!)
Let me know if you want more information!

When I asked for pictures, Diane Nafranowicz the Lawyers Club Director emailed me that their website with pictures was to go live on Feb 11th. I don't know if that went as scheduled, but I imagine we will get an email asking us to check out the website soon.dsn32 wrote:The Lawyers Club has been closed all year ,as it's under construction. Thanks! I like the pictures. I think I can even live with the bathroom for a year - because with the renovations, atleast I don't have to share! Can't beat the proximity to class in the winter!foosbol21 wrote:Oh awesome TYFT. Yep - March is clearly the better of the choices. I mean, it comes before April in the calendar. As Ricky Bobby said, "If you ain't first, you're last."twinkletoes16 wrote:zoidberg86 wrote:Think I'm spending Saturday afternoon of ASW apartment hunting!twinkletoes16 wrote:i was on board until i saw the bathroom pics.

Yeah I'm thinking the same thing. The rest of the room looks great, and I can live with the bathroom. I think the positives of the LC far outweigh the negatives for me. Looks like it's time for me to start looking at sublets for the summer now that we have the LC lease dates!VeeD101 wrote:Thanks! I like the pictures. Ahh you're a summer start. I envy you for being able to start school in June! Good luck finding a sublease for the summer monthsfoosbol21 wrote:Yeah I'm thinking the same thing. If a few summer starters want to live together, myself and few roommates (graduating seniors) are moving out around May 6th. I could find out how many spots we're going to have and let you all know if it'd be of interest for summer starters (the house is 2-3 minute walk to the law school at most). Let me know!
