I think they're exactly the same! The schedule has them as identical anyhow.

I joined the group, though!

Seriously? That's awesome. What kinds of brochures/pamphlets were these, if I can ask?

So far it's just been the original envelope and the bound admitted students' handbook a couple days ago.

I got the Inside New York book/package the other day, and now this package which includes a curriculum guide, CLS Magazines, and brochures on public interest law, intl law, business, IP, and clinics.
That's great, I didn't know they did that. Thanks for the heads up and hopefully I'll see something similar shortly.

Are you leaning toward going to CLS at the moment, or still waiting to see how aid plays out/a few othe roptions?

I'm torn between CLS and NYU (and I'm assuming that I'll be WL -> Reject at HLS). It'll really come down to $$ and how I feel post ASW. I also applied for a named scholly at NYU so we'll see how that goes.

ETA: I got a call from a CLS student the other day, too, haha. It went to voicemail and I haven't called back yet, but that was nice.
Fair! Two solid options. Definitely do call them back - I spoke to one two days ago now for about 20 minutes or so, and got some nice, candid feedback!

I'd corroborate this! I emailed my contact back and she was very responsive & persuasive. My 2c.

Hey guys, so the housing applications start up in a couple days. What housing options are you all looking at thus far? Is it worth filling out early, does anyone know?

I just got the housing e-mail too! I live in Morningside Heights now but I'm 90% sure I'll move into Columbia housing. It really is a lovely neighborhood, even though it's quieter than the Village. I think I'm going to try to get a dorm single/studio in Morningside Heights. Would love to have a one bedroom but the rent looks a bit steep.

Has anyone started looking into doing financial aid stuff? Does anyone know whether we're supposed to mail in our Financial Aid Questionnaire via snail mail to the Financial Aid Office?

Hey guys - any meet up planned at the ASW March 6-7? Is anyone planning to do Columbia & NYU on the 7th? If so, how are you splitting your time?

Gracias!

Oh nice! Haha yeah I'm thinking the same thing, the Village is great but that first year I want as short of a commute as possible... there's always the next two years to move out, and some of the prices seem pretty affordable. So far, I'm looking at the 1-2 roommate options on W 115/116th, which should be fine given we each have a bedroom. They seem like they come fully furnished and w/ utilities for a decent price ($1,100-$1,200 starting).

On the financial aid, though - I can't submit my own financial aid forms yet (still waiting on someone else to produce a 1099 for my tax returns...), but I called in and faxing the Financial Aid Questionnaire is definitely an option. I'm thinking of going with that once I've got everything put together, likely with some kind of brief cover sheet.

Edit:

Hey! Nothing planned as far as I know, but there's a few points on the schedule that might be interesting for a few of us to stick together, from lunch to the mock classes or even visiting regular ones Thursday morning. I'd be down to work something out.

Thanks guys! Doing financial aid stuff is giving me a headache, but much preferable to paying sticker.

I'd be down for meeting up during the ASW. Definitely looking forward to meeting everyone soon!

Anyone know anything about PI grants at Columbia Law? They're mentioned a few times on the admitted students site and in the PI catalogue that was sent in the mail today. Are those offered at the time of acceptance?

I might be going to the March ASW. Columbia's really high on my list but, like others, I'm afraid of sticker.

I just faxed in the Financial Aid Questionnaire and tax returns for both my parents and me. For anyone who's already done this, do we get any kind of confirmation/is there nothing left to do but relax and wait?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
