Begs the question came out in 2nd Torts class. From the front row. Used incorrectly of course.

Here's my favorite from last week:
me: what are your goals for after law school?
dummer: eh, don't know
me: why did you go to law school?
dummer: eh, why not
me: so you're committing to spending a quarter of a million dollars for no reason?
dummer: if I don't like it, I'll drop out next year, no big deal
me: I wish you were in my section (because it'll soften the curve...)

I'd be annoyed if I were trying to make friends with someone and they started questioning me about my debt.dingbat wrote:Here's my favorite from last week:

Re: Overheard at Orientation (aka: gunner bingo)
I've summed up and paraphrased here - I'm not that socially awkward. I didn't ask about debt, nor would I ever bring up money to someone, I gently asked about it being a big commitment (could be interpreted as time and effort)ilovesf wrote:I'd be annoyed if I were trying to make friends with someone and they started questioning me about my debt.dingbat wrote:Here's my favorite from last week:

I accidentally said some version of "where do we draw the line". Facepalmed after I heard a couple of snickers. Whoops.

remember, if you cant spot the gunner after week 1.. you may need a mirror to spot the gunner.. keep that hand down, and your responses to yourself

Some guy spent our whole orientation dinner sucking up to our legal writing instructor. Legal writing is ungraded at my school.

It was one conversation. That was literally every word spoken over about 8 minutes.

Replace "references Ivy League alma mater" with "references Duke" and I think we're on to something here.

Saw someone chugging an energy drink at the start of a Q&A/first lecture from the dean at orientation, that amused me.
