Sent my deposit in as well. Wish I could move out there sooner and get acclimated to Denver! Oh well, August will roll around soon enough.

I'll be at DU in August as well! I'll be at the reception too, it's an easy trip for me since I live in Denver and work downtown as it is!

Damnit, I missed this too because of my spam filter. And clearly I didn't see this thread in time.
How was it?
I too will be attending DU in the Fall. Currently live just 10 minutes south of the school. Great city.

I missed the ASD as well even though I live in Denver I see a lot of other people live in Denver already. I'd love to get together with some of you and get to know my future classmates if you have any free time. I live by DU at the moment, work downtown and can meet any nights and weekends. Let me know if you're down.

Re: Denver Class of 2015
I live in Atlanta and haven't been able to make it out to Denver since making the decision to attend. Can anybody tell me some good areas to look for an apartment?
Hoping to be able to make it out in early June and decide on one.
Thanks.

Re: Denver Class of 2015
Depends on what price range you're looking for really. Generally the apartments closer to DU/Wash park are going to be anywhere from 600-1000 a month. Closer to downtown is going to be a bit more expensive obviously. Further east of campus past Colorado blvd the rent starts to go down and if you go far enough east to be in Aurora it goes down even more. Also the rent tends to drop a bit the further west you go (esp. west of broadway st.), but be careful because there are some sketchy neighborhoods scattered around in some of these areas.MalcolmM26 wrote:I live in Atlanta and haven't been able to make it out to Denver since making the decision to attend. Re: Denver Class of 2015
Questions: do you have a car and do you want to drive or take the light rail/bus? If no car, live along the light rail - its free for students and gives you options.
Driving means you pay for parking and warning - they plow slow and poorly in Denver for a city that is known for snow (coming from chicago - the city that works).
As a 1L, you will spend a lot of time at school and want to get involved so factor that in....its easy to be convenient to the campus for that alone - running up a few blocks for a 8 pm meeting is easier. But otherwise, no charactor but affordable rents south and slighty east in the DTC and around Hampdon (no culuture at all...could be anywhere USA), more money but I hear more fun at Cheeseman Park - when I looked tho the rents were high for closet space - I mean studios.
There is no rental agency here like in other big cities.
Contact Cornerstone Apartments and talk to Andy - DU owns a lot of houses and buildings around campus and he rents them out.
Warning - I came out in June and no one had anything to show for August yet. Come about 30 days before your move give or take a week.
Message me if you need Andy's information or more private information on costs, etc.

Re: Denver Class of 2015
I'm in! I've withdrawn from other schools. I'm curious if there's a FB group too...
Has everyone figured out where they're living? I'm wondering if most students live near campus. There's still availability at The Arlington. Most places I had called said they wouldn't know about their availability until a month before your desired move in date. Some wouldn't even know until 2 weeks beforehand.
Also wondering, is anyone doing the summer preview program?

I'm considering the summer preview program. On that note, any guys looking for roommates? I'm trying to figure out my living situation soon.

A Facebook group has been created for the class of 2015.

And I am definitely doing the Summer Preview and will be living in the Centennial area (near the light rail).

I'm a little late getting started on the apartment search, looking for a place with 1 or 2 roommates. If anyone is interested or knows of a place shoot me a message.

Good luck to all you incoming 1Ls this week! Remember, the first few days/weeks are intense, but eventually everything calms down and you get into the swing of it.

Hey guys,
Nancy Leong is a visiting professor at UCLA this semester. I'm taking Criminal Procedure with her and was wondering if any of you have helpful tips/outlines/anything else you'd be willing to share.
Thanks!
