UIUC c/o 2015

Post by LSD22 » Mon Apr 09, 2012 6:20 pm

Doesn't look like anyone has started a forum for UIUC Class of 2015.

Submitted my first seat deposit last Friday and am pretty excited. Anyone else committed or pretty sure they'll be joining c/o 2015?

Not sure if it's a little too early to start my housing search but would love to find a roommate as I'll be new to the area...

anyway post away looking forward to meeting my future classmates :)

I'm 99% sure I'll be at UIUC this fall and I'm really pumped! I come from University of Maryland, which has a pretty big football program, but the ACC doesn't compare to the Big Ten. Kinda bummed to find out you have to purchase tickets to games, though...at UMD, tickets were "free" (they were included in your student fees).

Anyway, who's down to get some Law School tailgates going before games? I'm a huge fan of tailgating - I get more excited for tailgates than I do for Christmas. I'd love to round up some like-minded fools and get a regular crew going to games. I assume we'll have enough free time to go to a game or two between reading assignments.

Also, maybe it would be a good exercise for us to post a little bit about ourselves since we're going to be spending so much time together next year? It might be super cheesy but whatever. I think it would be cool to have at least an idea what the people we'll be surrounded by are like.

I'll start - I'm a 25 year old guy from Baltimore, MD. I went to University of Maryland and I love college football and basketball. Can't wait to start going to UIUC games as soon as possible (see my tailgating comment above). I'm pretty sure I'll be living west of campus about three miles down windsor road (but not in the Windsor West buildings). I like playing some sports at an extremely amateur level- I suck at soccer, tennis and football but I do like playing them for fun. I have played competitive water polo for 11 years and hope to keep that up at UIUC's club polo team. Also I'm big into weightlifting so if any of you would like to get a group going to the ARC in the mornings or evenings I'm interested.

Where are you all from, what are some of your interests, and where will you be living?

Checking in. When I first decided to take a year off the year was flying, now that everything is settled time is going by so slow. I've reached the point where I cannot wait for August. Although I know as soon as I get my first reading assignment I'll regret it haha. Anyone else feeling the same way?

I'm still in school and I feel that way.
That's just unfortunate.

Should I assume that I wont have access to the gym on campus until like August or September? It'd be nice if I could get in in June when I'm moving....

Glad this page is getting a start up! Excited to meet you all in the fall :)

23 year old female from the PNW (Pacific Northwest) Seattle to be exact. Went to the University of Washington undergrad, graduated 2 years ago, been a working stiff since. Excited to be getting back into school and will be moving in August in the process of searching for housing/roommate(s).

I think you can be sponsored by a current member (full time student, faculty, etc.) for a membership....or you can marry a student or affiliate of the University, whatever would be easier. Otherwise, I think you have to wait until they assess student fees in the fall.
That sucks because that looks like an awesome gym to have at your disposal.

Forgot about the fun little exercise. I went to Arizona State and graduated last year....well technically this May since I finally completed FRE202 haha. I applied last cycle and it went miserable. I think I went 3-14-10 (Acc-Rej-WL) with no scholarship offers (other than Cooley, the number 2 school in the nation!!). So I decided it would be stupid to rush into it and decided to take a year off and improve my GPA a little bit and LSAT. Did both and am very happy how things went this year, and am thrilled to be going to Illinois this fall.

Tailgating I'd be down. Basketball I'd be down. Keeping things low key during the week, I'd be down. Anyone else thinking of buying season tickets? I am still trying to get my UIN activated (they gave me one but it's not working on the ticketing website) so I can buy season tickets. Does anyone know if they sell them like they did at ASU (if you buy football season tickets you receive basketball season tickets) or if the two programs are completely separate?

Sounds like Illi is a big football school. Do a lot of the law/grad students purchase tickets? Always purchased season tickets for my undergrad but UW wasn't in its prime during my time there LOL... But I do enjoy tailgating/displays of school spirit so I might join in...

Separate, at least it usually is, with the state so behind on making payments to the University, UIUC does not pass up on ways to make money.

Do you know how much it comes put to for football?

If they follow the same trends as before, your class will be 220-225. But since it is a new admissions director and with the whole "problem" of last year, who knows. I doubt it will be bigger than 240, simply because of how sections work (each section is about 60 students).

We are aiming for a class of 240, which would be 4 sections of 60.

I'm finding everyone's backgrounds really interesting.

I'm a 22 year old male from Detroit area. Went to University of Michigan for undergrad. Originally chemical engineering major switched to polisci and law school two years in. Nearly a super splitter 2.2/167. Graduated in 2011, currently an English teacher in Madrid, Spain. I've been here since September and I'm on contract with the government until early July. Navigated apps from abroad and navigating housing from abroad to. Super excited for Illinois in the fall!

Hi Jenny, thank you so much for taking questions! It has prompted me to make my first post on here.

I've noticed on this thread that there was some waitlist movement today. Do you expect to admit any more applicants from the list soon? Also, are those on the waitlist eligible for scholarships?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
