I'm an SMU 3L and I own a duplex one block off lower Greenville Ave in Dallas. One of the units (2 bed 1bath 1800+/-square feet for $1200/mo) will be available for lease starting in July or August. It is a big old place with hardwood floors and a covered porch. This unit has been home to 3 different attorneys in the past and I once lived in the other unit with my wife who is also an SMU law grad. (It has good law karma.) PM me if you are looking for a place.

Also, financial aid at SMU is as slow as stated on these pages. Be prepared to be ignored.

I have a room available for rent at the Chase in the Village. (See floor plan here:http://www.thevillageapts.com/media_lib ... b12109.jpg)

Rent is $970.75/month, utilities usually run around $100, but have been as high as $160 during the summer. Internet is approximately $45/month. Your monthly expenses should be less than $600/month.

Some info about myself: female, from outside Chicago, went to Oklahoma State for undergrad, graduated from SMU law in December 2011, passed the February bar and am working full-time at a law firm. I am open to either a female or male roommate. Please send me a message if you are interested or would like more information.

Just got back home last night from a two day trip down there.. Found a few decent apartment complexes. I went with a 1 bed 1 bath in Amesbury Parc (1.3 mi from the nw side of school) for under 750 /mo. There were decent units at/below that price at "the cambridge" which is 2.5 miles from the law school. I found the village to be overpriced for what you get.. I don't really care about newness.
I ended up using a locator (free to the renter, for those of you who aren't familiar) that really helped me out a lot in finding the stuff I needed. Uptown Locators, Melinda was the lady who helped me. She dropped what she was doing within 1hour of me contacting her, and showed me a few places that met my exact criteria (<$750 /mo, <4 mi from the law campus, with washer/dryer hookups).
If you want her info or you have questions, reply or pm.

If any of you have Anderson (Contracts), Colangelo (Civ Pro), or Ryan/Pryor (Torts), I have the books from that class and the supplements that I want to sell. You and I both can get the books bought/sold for a fair price while reducing the costs of buying them at the bookstore/internet. Just PM me.

I've got books and supplements for anyone who's interested once y'all find out who you have. Crespi, Dorsaneo, Robinson, and Butler, and all of the relevant supplements. Plus two of the legal writing books (which are used by everyone).

Okay, so I have the following:

Property Casebook (Chase, 2nd Ed.)
Contracts Casebook (Farnsworth, 7th Ed.)
Civ Pro Casebook (Crump, 5th Ed.)
Torts Casebook (Franklin, 9th Ed.)
Civ Pro Supplement to Casebook, Required (Crump, 5th Ed.)
Selections for Contracts, Required (2008 Ed.)
Contracts Treatise, Required (Farnsworth, 4th Ed.)
Contracts E&E
Civ Pro E&E
Torts E&E
Civ Pro Crunchtime
Prop Crunchtime
Prop Glannon
Acing Prop
Contracts Supp (Chirlstein, SUPER helpful)
Civ Pro Q&A (lots of notes in mine, but invaluable if you have Dorsaneo).

Selling the whole shebang for $415 after pricing them on amazon and at the book store. I'd rather get them all sold in one fell swoop, but can/will sell them individually if need be. Let me know!

For all of those wondering, last year we got our schedules on 7/21. The year before they got theirs on 7/23 So maybe you'll be getting your schedules by the end of this week or the beginning of next?

Hey guys, I know a guy who is moving from Copenhagen to Dallas and transferring to Cox to finish his MBA. He's Norwegian, but speaks English wonderfully and is a really nice guy. He needs a room to rent for at least the fall semester, maybe longer. If anyone has a roommate moving out or hears of anything, will you let me know? Thanks

ALSO, I have another friend that is interested in selling her books. She was in my section, so we have the same casebooks and a lot of the same supplements. See my list above. If you're interested, PM me.

I feel like you should have found out by now. Does it not have your class list up on access.smu?

I called the office and they said it should come out later this week or early next week. I was getting kinda scared I had messed up on something.

You guys have to take a spelling and grammar test? You should return the test not filled out, but instead with a copy of your college diploma and LSAT score sheet stapled to it.

Our class had to do the grammar and spelling thing, too, if I recall. CoreGrammar or something like that? It was really lame.

Pryor is great for Torts. For the final, she gives you a whole bunch of previous examine questions and model answers.

Thornburg is great and very sweet. I enjoyed my class with her.

I've not heard good things about Palacios.

Anderson is supposed to be good but a little boring.

Forrester is a shrieking harpy she-beast from Hell.
