Hi everyone. I posted this in a different thread, but it should be just as useful here. I talked with the assistant dean of admissions the other day and she told me roughly 75% of their students receive a 3.0 or higher. So for those of you wondering how hard it will be to keep the full ride offer, it looks manageable.

Very helpful. Thanks a bunch

I'm curious what people's thoughts on here are regarding UCONN, job prospects (esp outside of CT), COL, etc.

Job prospects outside of CT are very slim. Mostly restricted to NY (10% of class) and Boston. Outside of New England you might have a really difficult time. They have an excellent program which is a semester in DC where you get to work for a government agency and at the same time receive class from UConn faculty in DC. Participating in this program will allow you to make connections in DC but the program itself is very competitive.

Honestly, I love everything about UConn except the restrictiveness in the hiring patterns. I love New England and probably will end up practicing here but I would like the option to go elsewhere if I wanted to and not have it be extremely difficult.

Accepted as a Connecticut Scholar.

Uconn is about as far as I could get from my home state (CA) but with no one else offering nearly as much in scholarships (including my #2 pick, UC Hastings) it looks like I'm heading to Connecticut.

Any advice for a non-New Englander? Anybody on this thread considering such a long distance move for UCONN?

Also from California with the full ride. Trying to figure out if graduting with almost no debt outweighs grim job prospects. But its most likely going to be UConn.

Where in California are you guys from? You're going to have to gun a lot to end up back in your home markets but it could be worth it.

I'm from Santa Clarita, a suburb about 30 miles north of Los Angeles.

I'm not really concerned about coming back to CA immediately after graduation. If I can find good, solid employment in New England I'm all for staying in the region.

Oh, if you guys are open to staying in CT then definitely UConn is a great school and you should consider it.

Yeah, if you are fine with staying in CT, then you are fine going to UCONN. I'm from New England (MA); my holdup is that I want to return to Boston.

As for moving across the country, I don't have a lot of suggestions (since I've never done it) other than being sure to a) take a trip out here ahead of time to be sure it is somewhere you are okay living - not just for law school but also working for a few years - and b) move out here more than a a few days/week before school starts, if possible.

Hey everyone, just got my acceptance email and definitely considering attending. For all of you got the full tuition offer -- Did you find out in your acceptance email? I was just curious how everyone was told.

Anyways, thanks for the help!

I did not get the scholarship in the same email. I got a about a day after the acceptance notice. This may have changed, since I got a pretty early response from the school.

I got mine a day later too but if I recall correctly you got one of the full schollys and those all came out the same day. I would also tell anyone considering UConn but wanting money to sit tight because there are a few of us that will be withdrawing to go to T14 schools releasing a bunch of money since we have really good scholarships. This will then release money that they can offer to those that haven't been offered any money yet. Just a thought.

Thanks for the advice! I hope the schollys do trickle down to me at some point. I would love to go to UConn!

A little money would go a long ways for me.

UConn is currently my top choice from the schools I've been admitted to thus far and I am from CA as well. However, it will all depend on scholarships and the last of the decisions from other schools that are my top choices. I would absolutely love to go to UConn, though!

Nice and congrats on the full scholarship (yeah, I creeped your LSN...)! Where are you coming from? In-State?

I'm still on the fence about UConn... still having a hard time deciding between UConn, Temple, or Retaking...

I wouldn't put too much thought into it. They've been declining, presumably since USNWR started counting the PT numbers for rankings.

If you're interested in working in Connecticut then UConn is a viable option as has been the case, if not interested in working in Connecticut then don't go to UConn.
