I asked this in the Ask A Student forum a while back and got no response. Do those of you who know Philly think that early July is too late for apartment searching in areas like Grad Hospital, Northern Liberties, and Fairmount?

Probably, bro. Your best bet is a certain 7-9 bedroom house on 45th and Walnut with only 6 housemates and a severe gender imbalance. And I hear the people living there are a pretty cool, diverse group. So, you know, you should like, get in touch with them or something.

You know Id love to. Y'all are gonna be my crew regardless. However I can't say no to an old college buddy, even if his current building is being renovated and sold by condo sharks, creating a situation where we have to find a new location. Blaegh!

Me too!

Anyone and everyone still looking for a place in Philly feel free to PM me as well! Like everyone else, I'm just looking to get a nice place for a good deal relatively close to campus. I'll also be in the area this weekend if you want to meet up.

We've got a 7 bedroom house with space for one more on 48th and Baltimore, about a 20 minute walk from school. Holler!

Got a thing in the mail about immunizations and whatnot. I live in the Philly suburbs, so I imagine most people will be getting it in the next day or 2. They say they need it completed by July 1st, so look out for it.

You realistically need to have it done by November. When you don't get it done by then they put a hold on your account so you can't bid on spring classes. For the fall they register you so it's ok. Not that you shouldn't take care of it right away. But the Hep B shots take several months to administer to become completely compliant, if you haven't done them.

Just found this thread and thought I'd say hi.

I've been reading some of "Penn Students Taking Questions" and it was pretty heavily leaning towards Center City as the place to live for law students, so I'm glad to see the folks over here talking about University City. I'll be at 44th & Walnut.

(Ha, I guess making those last two posts at the same time kind of emphasized that connection... Unintended. Oh well...)

Thanks!!

Is it too late to get a place at Sansom East/West? If not, when's the latest you can apply and safely get a room?

We're all but filled up at the Big House on 46th and Spruce. Big, beautiful house, great location -- all we need is you! We have an 8+ bedroom / 3 bathroom house and we need just one more housemate! A female housemate is preferred, as we already have 4 guys and 2 ladies...if you're interested, post here or PM me! Hope to hear from you soon!!!

Did anyone else get an email about the JD/MBA program? It sounds interesting, but I've heard mixed things about the utility of JD/MBA degrees.

Hey guys (and gals), just recently got an interest call from Penn and if I do get accepted, I was wondering what the housing situation looks like (good neighborhoods or on campus housing info?). Also is Philly an easy place to get around without a car? (Naive California kid here). Thanks!

Philly is pretty easy to get around without a car - it's relatively bike friendly, and has a decent public transpo situation. It's no NYC subway, but you also don't need to live that far away to keep rent down. I currently have a car in west philly (back when I had a job...) and am contemplating selling it.

Also, for all wondering, regarding west philly just stay between baltimore and market (chestnut ideally) and east of ~48th and you'll be fine. If you're east of 40th then you can go up to the lancaster/powelton ave line and still be pretty OK.

Hello Everyone,

I am a 0L who is searching for a new roommate. My current roommate got off the waitlist at another school, and will be attending that school in the fall. As such, I have a spare bedroom and bathroom at 2400 Chestnut. Please message me if you're interested, as I do not want to give this awesome apartment up at all. Thanks in advance and I look forward to meeting you all in the fall!

I need help with a decision. Upenn Law vs UT law. I want to work in Texas after law school. Here are the factors I'm considering:

1. Cost - $90-100,000 more at UPenn
2. Big Law Job (160K) after graduation
3. Percentile comparison (my research has shown that UT top 25% is comparable to the UPenn top 35%)

Any advice is helpful. Thanks.

These type of regional decisions are made on what you value more: getting a biglaw job, period, in any city, or working in Texas, period, even if you miss biglaw.

Penn does a decent job of placing students in Texas, but if you couldn't stomach the possibility of working in another city (read: New York) for at least a few years, I'd stay in Texas.
