Also venture into places like Wicker Park/Bucktown for boutique-y stuff! -H&M (across water tower) I'd def hit this up first-cheapest but still presentable.
-Zara (on Michigan ave a few blocks down) I prefer this over H&M for knit tops.
-Banana Republic (also Michigan Ave but FWIW the Chicago Premium Outlets in Aurora have a Banana, Club Monaco, Benetton and Calvin Klein...if you find a friend willing to drive there
