Yup, I think we're in the same section. Looks like we'll have to wait until next week for the last grade...

Any chance we get the grades over the weekend?

Doubtful. The university is closed until Tuesday for MLK.

did anyone find out what median gpa is at the gpa seminar today?

They said they don't calculate it, but that the curve for 1l's is generally just below a B+, so probably a bit lower than a 3.3

Also, they said that last year 4 people who had between a 3.56 (or did she mean 3.5-3.6) and 4.0 struck out in EIW. It got me thinking about why she used that number, perhaps it coordinated with the top 25 percent.

I think those numbers were meant to correlate with certain common gpa's. For instance, they mentioned that 80% between 3.0 (straight Bs) and 3.167 or something (2 B+s and 4 Bs) get something at EIW. I don't know why 3.56 though

This kind of stuff sounds interesting. I didn't think they'd give numbers so I didn't go, but this is useful information. Anybody else remember anything?

That is very impressive. It is surprising though that the school places 80% of participants into jobs at EIW and also 80% of people with the GPA between 3.0 and 3.167.

So I downloaded the powerpoint slides off CSM that OCS showed the previous class right before 2012 EIW, and yeah, it seems like it was 80% even for the lower band because majority of students are between 3.0 and 3.3. I suppose this means that the A band students (30% in each class) usually get majority As, and probably a random B or so, while the rest of the people who get B+s will mix in Bs more than than A-s. A distribution like that would explain why the median is not 3.33 like many expect but lower.

However, I did notice that the response rate was not anywhere near 100%, and more like 40% of EIW participants. I'm not sure if I actually read the data right as the participation rate was not explicitly stated, but if so, then it is possible that we do not have completely accurate data.

However, they did show a break down chart of offers based on GPA ranges, and it seemed very positive.

A friend of mine just got 6 interviews and 4 back-ups at the PILC fair. Is that what most people are getting or is she particularly attractive as a candidate?

1 and 0, though there exists a genuine possibility that I'm just particularly unattractive.

I know a few people with 0/0, and 1/1. They usually have more private firm or corporate back grounds. The people with more generally have a more PI background. They also seem to preselect for people's backgrounds (tax background for things like SEC, and immigrant background for things like immigration law).

Makes sense. I have PI background so did OK. But that doesn't stop me from worrying about real jobs down the line. I have a new attitude: it WILL all work out. I think we are all obsessing too much. Should be enough that we are studying at a terrific law school....

Ugh. As if we have that long to get this stuff sorted out! (Assuming we want/need that PILC $$$, anyway...)

So far I have 2/2 for PILC Fair, and 1 for a firm job. Is this enough or should I apply to more places?

2 interviews, 3 waitlists. None of my top choices though, but I'm excited by a few of them.

Unrelated to PILC fair, 3 rejections in one day yesterday. Only thought I had a decent shot at one of them, but still. Oof.

3.89x here and haven't heard anything, so the cut-off must be at least 3.9. Assuming it's gone out.
