Don't know what 75th is, but median is reported as 3.3 and top 25 is above 3.5. These are estimates.

is median really that high? Looking at the percentage breakdowns, it should be a little lower.

I'm definitely basing my numbers off of Wikipedia and the class rank estimator. I haven't found an "official" source so I'm open to correction on this. I'd be cool with it being a little lower.

Thanks guys. I also emailed the school asking the same question yesterday, but I'm not sure if they can answer that. In any case I'll update you. There is also an event on the 23rd called "making sense of your grades" that might make it clearer.

My thinking is that since 57% are B+ or better and 43% are B or worse, although the person who gets the middle raw score will be getting a B+, when you aggregate that over several classes, it should be somewhere between the two, leaning more toward the B+ since there are slightly more people in that range. So if you took 10 classes, you'd likely get 6 B+s and 4 Bs, which indicates to me that at the highest, median for 1L would be somewhere around 3.22 (this is a really rough estimate - just the combination of 2 Bs and 4 B+s - and I may be leaning on some terribly off-base assumption).

The sources from wikipedia are just a link back to the grade distribution and a reference to the pre-2008 grading system. I'm not sure about the my.lsn one

This assumes that grade are randomly assigned.

I've heard median is closer to 3.2 than 3.3 as well.

That may be the case. It'd be nice if someone could come in and point to a place where it's written down, but all we can do is speculate and assume it is somewhere between a B and a B+.

ETA: Jam's analysis seems pretty accurate if you check out the grade distributions per professor.

With the deadline for grade submittal being today, should we expect all the grades today? Anybody else still has no grades?

It's a "deadline" so maybe yes, maybe no. If the professors all actually submit their grades today they still need to be processed and added by the registrar.

We should be getting close though! I've only received one grade so far and that was from a professor who is a notoriously quick grader.

I was hoping to maybe get one or two today. When you got your grades posted was it later on in the day?

I just realized another error - there is more room for being above a B+ than being below a B. The average grade for a person "winning" the coin flip isn't actually a B+, but more like a 3.6. On the other hand, there's some chance that the people getting the A-s and As are not generally those that make up the 35-65%ile range, but that's a fairly big assumption.

A little after 2:30pm was the first I heard that grades were up (through facebook). I assume that is pretty close to the time that it was actually put up. Law students are a pretty neurotic bunch, so I am fairly certain that at least one person from each section is checking their grades at all times.

We got one yesterday in the morning. It was there when I woke up at 11

It'd be pretty cool if I got my grades sometime soon...

ETA: I'm assuming if I don't see them today then I'm not going to see them until classes start.
