Are my grades going to be my downfall?

Post by LovingLS » Tue Jun 05, 2018 8:28 am

I just got my grades back for 1L and I finished with a 3.3 gpa total for both semesters. I go to Columbia, which does not release their curve to my knowledge, but I was wondering if my gpa falls into an okay range. Thanks for your feedback!

You basically exactly in the middle of the class, which is a great place to be if you're looking for biglaw.

Stone is 3.41 or top third or so. So 3.33 is probably top 40%.

So this is a really shitty and strange way to brag about being better than 60% of your classmates.

If you want to lock down a clerkship for immediately after graduation, your GPA will be an obstacle. Otherwise, you're fine.

Columbia places 80% of students into biglaw. You're fine.
