Fall Grade Question - BC/BU

Post by username5000 » Fri Jan 19, 2018 5:56 pm

Ended the semester likely right around top 30% with a 3.51, but my grades were A, A-, and then a B-. How much is the B- likely to hurt me?

Hurt you in what sense? I assume you mean in employment prospects.

The *very* most that an interviewing employer will do is ask about what you think may be the reason that one was lower. Everyone knows each grade can't literally be your best grade. I had a few employers ask about a B in a bed of As, and the most they ever really did was chuckle about the B standing out a bit and ask me if I thought there was any reason I didn't do as well. For me it was because I was pretty ill during the exam.

I still got callbacks. If you're top 30%, that's what the employers are going to focus on. Not an anomalous grade.
