Applying to be research assistant

Post by topgun400 » Fri Nov 17, 2017 9:10 pm

Does anyone have any tips on this? Should I apply just like I would for a normal internship? Use the same cover letter? Writing sample and everything? Error on the side of formal? Or should you be less formal? It's a big school and I have not previously met the Prof but responding to a flier. Really appreciate any advice!

If the flyer looks more like a solicitation for job applications, I might treat it that way, but it's a very informal process in my experience. My two RA positions were secured through email expressing interest and chatting during office hours.

Hmm. That's hard to say. Had you met the profs before?
