I'n not really big on taking subjects just for the bar, but property is a huge part of the bar exam and it would be a real pain in the ass to learn it ALL from scratch.

But I had an awesome prof and actually really liked property.

It might be helpful with some environmental stuff? My prof was really interested in zoning and eminent domain though.

Mostly I can’t quite imagine *not* having taken it, but then I feel the same way about evidence and plenty of people don’t miss that at all either.

Maybe obvious but if you're planning to take any IP classes, you should probably take property first.

As others have said, I found it useful in Trusts and Estates and Intellectual Property classes. The philosophical background remains relevant for IP and the common law pieces for T&E overlap a good bit. Obviously up to you how you want to spend your Bar study—I had to learn Evidence and CrimPro cold, but in addition to Property (which sucked even having taken the course), I had Wills, T&E down already.

It's definitely on the bar exam. Property is one of those subjects that really can't be learned in a day or two of studying as would happen during bar exam studying. I would take it.

Currently at your school. 2L. I have not heard great things about Property as a class at our school generally. I didn't take it, am not planning to take it, and it has not hurt my career trajectory one bit. They got rid of it as a requirement for a reason.

Property is probably the most foundational class you can take. It doesn't explicitly come up in other classes that much, but it is operating in the background and informs a ridiculous number of legal doctrines. It's sort of like statutory interpretation in that way. You don't necessarily see courts saying "now we're doing a statutory interpretation move that is frequent and well-understood by other lawyers." But that's what's happening, and it's good to understand the common background knowledge that is possessed by the vast majority of attorneys/legislators/judges.

you should take property but you'll probably be cursing TLS next semester when you're writing your outline. property is a beast of a class and a good chunk of the class isn't intuitive at all.

This is why you should take it. It is not intuitive, but the concepts you learn help you in other courses. I had a great prof, though, who spent little time on the fertile octogenarian and more time on takings, IP, and nuisance, which I found interesting.
