Pleadings, chapter two, verses nine through twenty-one:
And Saint Alwood raised the brief up on high, saying, "O Lord, bless this thy brief, that with it thou mayst smite thine enemies, in thy mercy." And the Lord did grin. And the people did feast upon the lambs, and sloths, and carp, and anchovies, and orangutans, and breakfast cereals, and fruit bats.
And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou count the number of words in thy brief. Thou shalt count to three thousand two hundred and forty-nine, no more, no less. Three thousand two hundred and forty-nine shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three thousand two hundred and forty-nine. Four thousand shalt thou not count, neither count thou two thousand, excepting that thou then proceedest to three thousand two hundred and forty-nine. Five thousand is right out!
Once the number three thousand two hundred and forty-nine, being the number of words in thy brief, be reached, then servest thou thine brief on thine opposing counsel, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.”
