I enjoy having a lot of free time but I don't enjoy living in poverty and being looked at as a college student by society at large.

If you're sitting in a lecture and thinking to yourself, "Man, I'm going to miss this" as a 3L, you are a better man than I.

I'm with Spanish Man. If there is anything I will miss from law school at this stage, it would be the friends I made and the growth I experienced. I generally enjoyed 1L and 2L year. 3L fall was solid because I was actually working and getting real world experience and not in classes but this semester has just been a drag. I feel like I am completely wasting my time listening to these profs gloat about themselves and the practice areas I really don't care about instead of continuing to build on a relevant skill set or getting more prep for the bar. I'm struggling to find a sense of purpose every time I walk in to the law school. I just did Barbri early start for 2 hours and got 50% of the questions right on a con law/contracts quiz. Still plenty of time to get better but that is my main focus right now and I'm not even getting any credit hours applied to it. School has become more of a burden than an asset at this point. That being said, I'm skipping my afternoon class to play golf #3LOL

I'm in a class that I find very interesting and I still hate sitting through lecture and jumping through hoops with exams/papers. The substance doesn't make up for having to be in class for hours, listen to strivers/gunners ask inane questions, then pump out some paper or exam based on what the professor wants to hear.

Trying to find every loophole possible to the mandatory ABA attendance policy. What a joke.

Why are you reading ABA rules? Skip class until you get an email from the professor (unless there's a stated policy in the syllabus where they fail you for not going).

seriously. going by the letter of the law is a 1L's game. it's not law unless it's enforced.

IMO comments like this don't help much... If you aren't in law school you barely have room to speak of "trivial" classes. You'll feel the same way as OP some day.
S/he ain't lying though.

I have until April to decide so waiting until then but I am enjoying my firm job a lot more than when I was doing the clinical at the prosecutor's office so if I had to decide today, I'd probably go with the firm. I find the work more fulfilling and the pay is better. Also, not having to deal with layers and layers of gov bureaucracy and politics is a plus. I just won't get as much trial experience or State benefits so there are still some things to weigh. Just gotta keep praying on it.. What about you? Are you thinking firm? Government?

Thanks, yeah, looking forward to it. Glad you found a firm you like. Good luck with the FL bar by the way. From what I understand Florida makes the whole process especially painful.

Is this common? I'm taking the bar in July, am I supposed to be in a prep course?
I guess it depends on preference. I spend about 3-5 hours a week right now on bar prep but I've heard from attorneys and profs that it's still really early and that I don't necessarily have to do much prep yet. I think as long as you're going good hard for 40-50 hrs per week come summer, you should be good.

Schools with weaker bar passage rates often offer bar prep courses in the second semester of 3L, to help improve their numbers. If your school isn't offering something like that you don't have anything to worry about.

And doing bar prep during 3L is utterly pointless (outside of maybe a law school prep course you're getting credit for, or perhaps if you know you're going to work full-time most of the summer as well).

I mean, it's really not that bad, especially if you have a secure offer on the table. Just coast and enjoy the free time.

I guess you're right. As the old saying goes about 3Lol, "you hate it when you're in it but a year from now, you'll miss it."
