I don't think that I would do as well just listening to six weeks worth of lectures.

Again, from the choices given, would people spend the money to be on campus during the week, try to tough it out commuting in a walking boot, or scrap this semester?

Again, I have to deal with the reality / actual prices, not what I wish the cost were. Can anyone please just give an opinion on the options given? Or, are all the options that unpalatable?

Sorry to hear.

Rank of school? Unfortunately, relevant. If biglaw is your goal, for example, and relatively easy to get, then I think being in top 5% is enough of a buffer. If you're enrolled in somewhere you have to claw hard for meaningful employment, then not sure I would hesitate forking out an additional $5k when the stakes are so high.

Nobody can answer for you. We don't know how much you like going to class, why going to class is necessary to do well, how far you're traveling, why your spouse couldn't live with you in the dorms, why having crutches at the bottom of your stairs wouldn't help, why you would use a kneelchair, why you commute in the first place, how melodramatic you're being, etc. We also don't know how your school would handle this, whether you could work in your time off, what the financial burden of an extra six months of school would be, and why you're being a brat in this thread.

Option 1.

I think lax' s point about taping class is valid, it's the most logical solution. At the same time, it was important for me personally to be in class so I get where you're coming from. I think you could try a video lecture and see if it works for you.

If it does not, I would stay on campus. I think public transportation can be a pain in the ass with a perfect foot. And your first year is important enough to keep your grades as high as possible.

Your stress level will be much lower with option 1

I stayed in a studio for seven weeks next the school while my foot healed in what was the wettest winter in years. It was a great decision and allowed me to keep studying, be closer for interviews for summer jobs, and focus on my moot court brief. This cost me an extra $3,000 or so in rent and misc. expenses (CL furniture, which I gave away at the end), but was well worth it. Now that I am on the home stretch of 1L, I am glad I found another solution, rather than dropping out or taking the semester off, as some kind posters recommended.

FWIW, I would encourage others to simplify their life as much as possible in the face of an injury or illness, but to persevere.
