1) how many days are there normally between meeting and releasing results; and
2) do they notify the applicants that were picked individually before they release results online?
Thanks!
P.S. I applied as a DA, and graduated from a T20 school in 2014

Re: Military Law - Navy Jag Student Program
I don't know about JAG boards, but other officer boards usually happen a week before the candidates who are Pro Rec Y get notified. Sometimes it's less, sometimes it's more. The process is different though (their recruiters call them and tell them the results), and the delay for them usually involves the recruiting district not being notified of the results for that week. For JAG, since it's not a recruiting district thing, I imagine the delay is entirely technical--getting the results to the site managers and having them posted. Could be wrong though.caseyjo1988 wrote:If the boards were held last week:NavyJAG1 wrote:No problem. It is a stressful process. Since no one here has mentioned waiting for a phone call or email, and several people have said they've applied before, I assume that means that no one is notified personally of the board results, whether it's Pro Rec Y or N. The application only mentions finding out by checking the site later, too.

Re: Military Law - Navy Jag Student Program
As I understand it, it is a technical delay getting the actual results from the Board members uploaded onto the application website. With several hundred applicants, that can take awhile, and they don't want to give someone a wrong result =/
From prior boards, I believe it takes about 1.5-2 weeks, so I'm betting either next week or early the following. And as far as I know, you don't get a personal response either way. Your status will change on the website, and if you've been selected, a recruiter will email you a few days after that to begin the next step.

I also applied DA but for what it's worth, one of my friends got ProRec'ed in the Fall for the SP and said he saw in the morning that the status on the website changed and got an email later. No phone call. Not sure if the DA selectees are notified in the same way. I want to say that he got the email the same day the results were sent but I can't find our email exchange when I asked him.Navy2015 wrote:caseyjo1988 wrote:I don't know about JAG boards, but other officer boards usually happen a week before the candidates who are Pro Rec Y get notified. Confirmed from my friend--he saw it changed in the AM and got an email later that same afternoon. This was for the SP program, though.ShockTop wrote: I also applied DA but for what it's worth, one of my friends got ProRec'ed in the Fall for the SP and said he saw in the morning that the status on the website changed and got an email later. Every three years the JAGC holds two joint training symposiums, one for the east coast and one for the west. We had the East coast this week and west coast is next week. The point is, the JAG and DJAG attend both, which may make it tough for the board report to be signed. Hopefully they sign it Monday.

I figured it wouldn't get posted today. Just seems like there's too many real legal emergencies (or perceived ones) to tackle than getting these out. I'm betting next week.
On another note, NavyJAG1, I know NavSec spoke at the conference. Did he mention anything about JAG hiring for the future? Tie in with SecDef's "force of the future" concept? Just wondering how/if that's going to change the JAGC.

SECNAV spoke, pretty interesting. Not from him, but JAGC is expected to grow. Particularly for LT and LCDR. This is a good time to apply, applications down and selection rates up.

Good, good news =) And if I'm not selected this time, I'm hoping 3L will be the time. Guess we'll find out next week (or soon). Nothing to do but focus on finals.NavyJAG1 wrote:SECNAV spoke, pretty interesting. Not from him, but JAGC is expected to grow. Particularly for LT and LCDR. On another side-note, anyone here with a Navy internship for the coming summer? Perhaps up in Washington state?

I was thinking about this. Do you mean, hopefully they sign it Monday, because they'll be traveling/attending the symposium the rest of the week? I.e. Monday or it won't get signed until the following week?NavyJAG1 wrote:Every three years the JAGC holds two joint training symposiums, one for the east coast and one for the west. The Navy JAG Blog posted about it this AM. There's a picture with SECNAV and RADM Crawford.NavyJAG1 wrote:Every three years the JAGC holds two joint training symposiums, one for the east coast and one for the west. Yeah, the JAGC twitter/Facebook page posted a similar photo the other day. It's from the East Coast training, so hopefully they're getting it all signed today before they head out west.

First I'd like to say that it's a relief reading this thread and knowing that there are other people waiting on pens and needles for these results.
However, I'm going to go ahead and say that it's a safe bet that we'll be waiting at leas another day. I wish I was wrong.

FWIW, a member of the board told me, but didn't guarantee, that the results would be released this month.

Told you it wouldn't be today? And what did he say, exactly? That'd itd be early May? I know, officially, the website has it coming out 10 weeks approximately after the deadline. 10 weeks was this past Friday. But the website also says the Board would be held in April, results would come out in May. Knowing they had the board two weeks ago, I'm just hoping it'll be released this week. Never know, though.NKY Law Student wrote:FWIW, a member of the board told me, but didn't guarantee, that the results would be released this month.

He told me a few weeks ago that the results "will be out this month," referring to the end of APRIL.
This was not a guarantee, however.

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the info!
Also, out of curiousity, how'd you know the Board member? And whats their rank?

No inside info, just when you click the "Contact Us" link on the recruiting website, it goes to an actual person. He's a Lieutenant Commander, I believe. I've had an ongoing dialogue with him throughout the application process.

Given that conference, if they don't start trickling in shortly or tomorrow, I'm betting it'll have to be next week then :/
