Hello Everyone,

Has this thread gone dead?

In light of the Friday, February 08 deadline for the Student Program, I figured there'd be more activity.
I'm a 2L and second-time applicant at a T2 school.
Current Stats:
- Prior service (Navy)
- GPA 3.2; bottom 50%
- LSAT 150
- Several government extern/internships

Anyone else applying this go around?

I am still here. Going on my 3rd application

T2
3.3
160 LSAT
editor for secondary journal
previous positions with federal agencies (DOE, NNSA, DOJ) and a USAO.

no prior military service, just heavy service with active military service student org

this is my last shot before graduating, so fingers crossed I get some reprieve via good news in April! Good luck and following seas to all.

All things considered, a 19% acceptance rate (last cycle) coupled with the Navy's plans to grow leaves you with a good chance for recommendation (assuming there's nothing controversial in your app). That said, I've also heard that JAGs numbers don't always reflect increases/decreases in other communities.

I pray you get through this time around!

Yeah, I’m certainly optimistic. Navy JAGs have told me that the plans to grow the fleet include growth in the JAG Corps. That said, I did apply last cycle and not get PR’d so we will see. I’m hopeful. Have been accepted Army, and know it would be a good life and career. But at the same time my first choice has and will continue to be the Navy. So here’s hoping. To you and any other lurkers here: good luck!

It is. When I decided I wanted to do this I weighed 285lbs and I didn’t want to go to my Structured Interview that overweight because it lasts for three years. It took me a year and a half to get down to where I am now, sad that I missed three boards

Great material for a persuasive motivational statement, as it speaks magnitudes to your "Commitment."
Fingers crossed for you!

It would appear they met last week. Why do you ask for the specifics?

No reason in particular, just curious. Thank you for the reply.

Received a call from a Washington D.C. number this morning but missed the call. When I dialed the number back it was an answering machine from a Naval base. Did I just miss an acceptance call? Anyone else see movement?

Great, I'm assuming they will attempt to call back if that was in fact an acceptance? Still showing "pending" and nothing on the email front. Really wish I had my phone on me this morning!

Best of luck everyone.

They typically update online statuses after calling the PRORECs.

Can confirm, received call this afternoon. At least in my case, a VM was left with a callback number and my status has yet to be changed from pending for what that’s worth.

Thanks to EVERYONE for all the help along the way and over the years. Especially you as of late Elle!!!

Third time was the charm for me. Good luck to everyone as we get these unexpectedly quick responses. Really was not expecting anything before April. A fantastic surprise during my Spring Break.

They just released the usual message:

Accepted 37 of 279 - not broken up by class year or direct appointment.

Some with prior military, usual smattering of languages spoken, moot court, law review etc.

Congrats - have fun at ODS and NJS, lately promotion rate to O4 has been super solid and for CSB

Have fun, and don’t be an asshole to your fellow JAGs

Seems surprising. I thought it would be closer to 20% with the Navy expressing a willingness to grow the Jag Corps?
