Just checked OASIS - I'm already registered. I'm pretty happy with my schedule.

Yes, I'm registered for mine as well and I'm pretty satisfied with mine as well. Not nearly as grueling of a class schedule as I would've imagined.

I'm thinking about doing it. I literally haven't been to LA in 20 years so I think it might do me well

I think I'm going to do it. I'm not very familiar with the city.
Also, does anyone notice a weird time distribution in their classes?
Per week, I have:
Contracts - 3 hours, 45 mins
Torts - 5 hours
Procedure - 1 hour, 15 min
It just seems like Procedure and Torts would meet for a similar amount of time each week since they are worth the same amount of credit. Or am I missing something here?

My Oasis course list is the same, but if you go to "Web Registration" on the myUSC page, you'll see a more detailed breakdown of class information which shows that Procedure is much longer... I'm going to bet that that's more accurate.stowhat wrote:I think I'm going to do it. I'm not very familiar with the city.

Ah you're right. It meets again on Thursday and Friday morning. I was thinking my schedule looked a little light.

I'm unsure of how sections work. It seems like there are at least 10-12 sections (so ~20 people per section). Do we have all of our 1L classes with the people in our section only? That doesn't seem right. What are supersections and how do they factor into class schedules.
I'm on the Contracts MTW, Procedure+Torts on Friday schedule.

From my understanding, you are right that there are 12 or so sections. Your section will be the only people that are in your legal writing and research class. So it will just be that 20 or so persons. Your section will also have their own two peer leaders, I think that's what they are called. However, because it would take a massive amount of space and faculty, to let all twelve sections have their own curriculum at different times with different teachers, 3 or 4 sections will join together to form super sections, which are the people who you will take all the remainder of your classes with.JJDancer wrote:I'm unsure of how sections work. I may be totally wrong, but this is what I understood about it.

Re: USC Gould School of Law Class of 2014
Got my book list yesterday. If I bought the books new from the school bookstore, it would be close to $900 for just the required books. This seems REALLY high. Buying the books used saves some money but I think the best deal is to buy the books from Amazon.
Anyone planning on doing this? I'm wondering if I should order them now or wait until I get an official list at Orientation.

Amazon is generally much cheaper than the book store. However, I would suggest waiting to buy your books until at least near the end of orientation. The reason is that some student groups will put on book sales during orientation, where upperclassmen resell their textbooks to 1Ls at greatly reduced prices. You can afford to wait that long since you get the free year of Amazon Prime as a student, and therefore free two-day shipping.stowhat wrote:Got my book list yesterday. I haven't gotten my book list yet. In OASIS it says my book list isn't available. Should I be looking somewhere else, or am I just one of the late ones?

Find your class and click on the book icon next to the section that you're registered in. I'm not sure how accurate this is so I'm going to wait until Orientation to purchase my books but it's a start.

Re: USC Gould School of Law Class of 2014
Is there anyone here who has the TWH Contracts/Torts schedule? They are both listed as 10:00 to 12:15. I got an email saying that they would switch off each week, but this still seems odd to have almost 7 hours of one class per week and then nothing in the next...
