Another question,
The website says that I can make the jump from Part-time to Full-time after the first year, but the part-time first year schedule on the website extends through next fall - that is, it's fall, spring, summer, and then fall again. Will I have to wait until December 2012 to transfer? or 1 calendar year (end of summer 2012)? If I have to wait until Dec, I'll be ~9 hours behind with 3 semesters to make it up, vs. 6 hours behind with 4 semesters to make it up.
Emailing admissions doesn't get a response and when I called, the lady read to me the exact text that I was questioning - "Part Time students may make the request to change to full-time status and vice versa after their first year. Requests are handled on a case-by-case basis and must be approved..."
"......yea. thanks."

Maybe you have to take classes in the summer if you transfer up?

I went to an open house for PT applicants a few months back and the admissions counselor stated that if a PT student wished to switch to FT status he/she must make up the hours in the summer between 1L and 2L. She said this is usually only 6hrs or less and could easily be made up.

fck, this is a bonerjam property

--LinkRemoved--

only problem for me is that it requires a 12 month lease and since i'm living with my gf, i only wanted to move out for 9 months - from mid august to mid may.

$900 a month for 900 sq ft is ridiculous. gated. i know i sound like i'm trying to pimp the area but the apartment i have been looking at is a block away, gated, and it is $915 a month for...430 sq ft. FML.

why i'm looking at apartments on w. alabama - straight shot to UH going down alabama. 10 mins w/o having to go on the highway means the "15 mins" from the other side of 59 on kirby or buff speedway can easily balloon to half an hour.

You can do better than both of those if you can let go of the gated-ness! Houston is really *not* dangerous. I pay $690 for 900-1k (I'm not sure, don't care to figure it out).

Also, I wouldn't count on Alabama because it's a major rush hour street as well. Less busy than the highway, but still pretty busy and with stoplights and stop signs.

(If you're from Houston, sorry if this was irritating! Just trying to help you out.)

Although I didn't see the 2011-2012 tuition and fee information on the UHLC website, I was checking my peoplesoft account and noticed that the tuition and fees have been updated: 14,021 for tuition and fees and a total COA of 22,082 (per semester, of course). This might be old news, but I just noticed :)

This is what I see when I look on Peoplesoft - why is mine so different than craneje?

Mine is the 22 number. It used to be like yours until they revised it with my scholarship. Maybe it'll update when your scholarship is posted to financial aid. You were just recently accepted, right? That might have something to do with it.... they haven't gotten to your file or something to update with the new numbers.

Not sure where you're seeing the budget at, but last week my total financial aid award, including scholarship, was coming out to the 39k number. It looks like yesterday they revised COA and updated the numbers as now my total for both semesters is the 44k (so 22 per semester). They probably just haven't updated the budget you're looking at yet.

When I log in to peoplesoft, it says I'm not enrolled in any classes yet. Hmm.. guess I'll be calling admissions tomorrow.

I didn't think Mixon would be teaching again after the reviews my section gave him last semester.

Have fun!

Here's a rundown on profs I know about:

-Chase: Very eccentric and succesful businessman. You'll learn contract law through a mix of caselaw and his experiences. He misses A LOT of classes and he teaches you very little about each topic (he prefers discussion/hypos over actual learning). You have to stand when you speak in that class and he will randomly pick two people to stand for the entire class period at the beginning of each session. He's very nice so don't sweat it. As long as you do your reading you'll be fine. The tests are very, very hard. He doesn't follow one single format, making it nearly impossible to study for "his" tests. They will be riddled with typos and other oddities making it even more difficult. My test was 25 multiple choice and 6 essays. He had to throw out 15 of the multiple choice because either no one got them right or they were typed incorrectly.

-Sanders: Grandpa Joe is awesome. He made me fall in love with products liability which I am still pursuing today. His test is straight issue spotting/your typical torts test, mixed with 10-15 multiple choice from in-class discussion. The multiple choice are VERY difficult because he wants to see who can split the hairs and who can't. I "knew" the answer to every single one on my exam, but the answer choices were so similar that I ended up missing quite a few (MC has never been my thing- keep this in mind). His classes are awesome and he'll let you out early.

-Gidi: Awesome Professor. I'm trying to tutor his class next semester so I may see a few of y'all. He's very eccentric and genuinely cares about his students learning the concepts of civil procedure. If you don't like sarcastic humor, you will hate him. He will tease you in class and make jokes at your expense but it's all in good fun. I really liked him, others in my section couldn't stand him.

-Crump: Didn't take a class with him. He's kind of a dick from what I've heard, though. He's quite powerful at the school and he acts as such.

-Mixon: Oh Mixon, where to begin. His tests are nearly impossible to study for, yet they're almost identical in nature. He DOES give you all of his exams, but it is still hard. I struggled the most in this class preparing for the final. Your exam will be 40-50 MC with 1-2 essays. The essays WILL be major topics you cover in class. I knew beforehand what ours likely were going to be and I guessed correctly. That being said, the essays were still very very difficult. I read the first one and literally didn't know what to write. I hate his teaching style, I hate his drawings and I felt like the book was absolute garbage. Finally, you cannot use your laptop or any electronic device. If you're caught with an electronic device, he deducts 5 points off of your final. Our section gave him scathing reviews, we had two students walk out of his class because of remarks he made towards them, and we even got the dean involved to help alleviate the situation. He was supposed to retire this year but I guess he's sticking around for longer. Hopefully K's is better for y'all.
