Whats everyone doing about housing? Has anyone heard anything about the Tailor Lofts?
Do not for the love of God live at Tailor Lofts. I live there now, and I'm moving in a month. There are way too many undergraduate students who live here so there are insanely loud parties late at night on Mondays or Tuesdays. The apartments are brand new; however, they don't feel "warm" or "cozy." Management sucks, and there were crazy electrical overages happening here around winter. Look elsewhere, trust me.

Oh yeah, and I'm a rising 2L at Kent. I love it here, and I think all of you will too :)
TL is not a good place. I have applied their room, but their bookkeeper's attitude extrimely different before and after I paid the app and admin fee. Before that, she almost respond every email I sent and said she would give me a list of which rooms facing south after I paid app fee; but actually, she didn't give me any list of that and even didn't reply my email. Furthermore, after I asked many times, she said they only have two rooms facing south and all of them were occupied by male students. I think it's totally cheating. She just pushed me to pay the app fee and didn't tell me the truth of the room info. So I decided not to live there although I have paid 100. I wonder if I could get my money back.

Sorry for going off topic but how successful are Kent students at getting NYC jobs?.... focus is on Chicago, but due to various reasons, I'd like to know how strong Kent is in NYC.

It may mean that as well. On other forums it signifies that another person is interested in what you stated or asked.

Hey fellow Kent-ites! Checking in for fall of 11. Anyone interested in organizing a little summer meetup before orientation? Maybe a White Sox game?

Also how's everyone's housing search coming along? I'm struggling to find a decent 1-2br with decent sized rooms and might possibly look into expanding my options by adding a roommate. If someone's in a similar situation, let me know and maybe we can check out some options.

Looks like I'm gonna be joining you guys at Kent! I'm so glad I finally made a decision!

I just signed a lease for an apartment at Dearborn Plaza in the Gold Coast. It's a great location with awesome views and transit, but oh man it is the TINIEST studio I've ever seen. Like, it's a bedroom with a kitchen on one of the walls. But, I do love the area and it is just me.. and all the reviews online sing its praises. It's also one of the most affordable buildings (from what I've seen) in the area, so that makes me feel a little better.

Anyone start the reading yet? I checked it out from the library last week, and am already procrastinating on getting started. Uh oh.

I've read Getting to Maybe already, and I'm halfway through LEEWS and 1L of a Ride. For someone just beginning summer reading, I strongly recommend 1L of a Ride. It's a very easy read that slowly introduces some basic, yet necessary concepts.

I also plan on reading a couple of the Delaney books, but I'm going to try and steer clear of any substantive prep (like the E&E's and Horn books).

Please offer suggestions if you too are going to be doing some reading outside of the not-yet-released Kent reading list.
I just started reading 1L of a Ride myself. It is a great light read for my lunch hour at work.
What books do you read?

I am very much down for attending a summer get together for TLS Kent goers. A White Sox game would be great or even just a gathering at some pub around the city.

Let's get that ball rolling then. Cubs/Sox series? Either at Wrigley in July or the Cell in June...depending on how many people find flexible schedules one way or the other.

I was at the Sox game the other day....they have a new bar right across from the Cell, "Bacardi at the Park" which was nice. But of course if your a northside fan you always have access to the numerous bars in Wrigleyville.

Frankly I'm free for either, but here are the dates:

AT US CELLULAR FIELD:
Monday 06/20
vs Cubs
7:10 pm

Tuesday 06/21
vs Cubs
7:10 pm

Wednesday 06/22
vs Cubs
7:10 pm

AT WRIGLEY FIELD:

Friday 07/01
@ Cubs
1:20 pm

Saturday 07/02
@ Cubs
3:10 pm

Sunday 07/03
@ Cubs
1:20 pm

Tix can be had for roughly $25-75 depending on where we want to sit, since both teams are not doing that well attendance should be down this year and the free market supply/demand prices should kick in.

AND

option 2 could just be a bar, any bar, on a free thurs/fri.

Which one of the two is the more affordable option will depend on your budget and thirst.

Anyone thinking about creating a facebook page for the 2014 class? ( I know Kent has one up, but it's pretty bad)

But, with that said, I'm also down for a TLS meet.

I already live here so I'm free basically whenever I'm not working. (so anytime after 6, any day)

likewise, i'd be down for a couple drinks or dinner rather than a baseball game. i'd be too distracted by the baseball to be meeting and/or greeting...

Down for whatever the majority decides, although I work out in the suburbs so if it's a weeknight I won't be able to make it til 7 ish with traffic.

A bar and a comedy club on the northside? Maybe next Thursday? (Does help that I'm taking next Thursday off to check out places on the northside :P )
