Emory is my probable pick for where I will be this fall. Curious to talk to other people planning on Emory right now.

Barring an (unlikely) acceptance from UT's waitlist, I too believe that I will be attending Emory. Looking forward to meeting people at ASW.

Re: Emory Law Class of 2014
Hey everyone. Congrats to those who've gotten in and good luck to those who are still waiting to hear. I'm a current 1L here and I love it. Right now it's about 70 degrees outside too which is a major plus considering my hometown is experiencing a balmy 35 degree day.
I've used TLS maybe four time in my life but I figured it might be helpful to any of you who have any questions about Emory or the upcoming ASW.
Feel free to just throw any questions you'd like at me about absolutely anything.

Hey everyone (few of us though there are right now...) - Just got my acceptance from Emory and wondering what it's like.
To the current 1L - would you say people are happy at Emory?
Also, can you get jobs out of the south once you graduate?

Still waiting on a decision. Got a teaser email today about the new USNWR Rankings that I thought was a decision email

Decisions are made by mail only I think. Also, Emory is my forerunner right now as well (I got an award on the lower end of the spectrum, so more $ would clinch it) - still waiting on a few schools as well.jazzmastersc wrote:Still waiting on a decision. It's my understanding they don't negotiate. It's worth a shot though, and I will be doing the same regardless of the offer. Maybe now that they are tied in the rankings, Emory will match my $ from W&L. Congrats on your offer.spets wrote:Decisions are made by mail only I think. Re: Emory Law Class of 2014
Thanks. And you're right about Emory's non-negotiating policy - I meant to say more $ would have clinched it. I believe someone's already tried this cycle and received a polite form letter restating their policy. Not sure if I'm going to try or not.jazzmastersc wrote:It's my understanding they don't negotiate. It's worth a shot though, and I will be doing the same regardless of the offer. Is there a point of asking Emory to match Indiana, or does Indiana not count despite the peer ranking?

I'm also a Gamecock Alum. Now that we're gone they will probably win the SEC...spets wrote:Thanks. Clowney and Lattimore ftw.jazzmastersc wrote:It's my understanding they don't negotiate. It's worth a shot though, and I will be doing the same regardless of the offer. FWIW, I tried to leverage W&L with my Indiana offer to no avail. Did everyone with a 170+ get 120k from Indiana? It's a great offer, but I haven't had any schools match it.

Anyone with 166 and no prior felony convictions got 120k from iub, though a few only got 105. Puzzling.

Anyone know where they are living yet next year? I'm still waiting on a few schools, but am pretty set on Emory. Just wondering what the living situation around campus is like.

I wanted to also throw out that same question: What is everyone thinking about housing? This being my first post, EVER, I am hoping that responses come FLOCKING in haha. I am really excited about Emory next year and the warm weather (currently in Philly now where, for some damn reason, it is like 30 degrees again). Does anyone know if Emory has any roommate matching/pow-wow thing haha? Thanks guys!

See you in the fall
I was also going to ask about housing. Are there any current Emory Law students on here that might be willing to give some more hints?
I've read about Somerset Heights - yay or nay?

Hey everyone, is anyone here going to visiting day on Saturday? :D I'm excited but I'm not gonna lie, I have no idea what to wear. The email said "smart casual" but I don't know what exactly qualifies.. XD
Either way, I'll see some of you soon, I hope! I will be the person either way underdressed or way overdressed. :)

Also, I know of a couple of med students that live @Harwood Condos (next to the Conference Center). They said it was a good place to live though it's mostly med students. It's on the shuttle route.

If anyone is planning to live at Clairmont Reserve, let me know and I'll split the referral fee with you. Also let me know if you have any questions about Clairmont Reserve. It has a really great location since it is right across the street from the shuttle that goes straight to the law school.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
