I was rejected today. Pretty shocking considering the fact I went to college about 3 miles from the law school. My numbers are odd though, so I guess they weren't impressed enough by my LSAT. 2.4/164/URM.

How come you did not transfer? Is it difficult to? How hard is it to be in top 10%?

I have just been accepted and thinking about going. I'm concerned about the job prospects of Albany grads and it being a tier 3 school....

albany feeds into albany, and may send a few students elsewhere. If you want to leave eastern NY- then it might not be for you, but if you are happy in that location- it might be. Its very expensive, and they dont give out much financial aid- so be forewarned. The school is very small- and shares a campus with a medical and pharmacy school. Its okay- but in my opinon for the amount of the tuition- it can be much better, and offer much more.

check out the admitted student day if you want. I went to an open house in the fall b/c it was local and i wanted to see what it was about. However, listen to how the students and faculty respond, and what they tell you. I talked to the sba president, a current 3L who told me in not so many words that he regretted going. Why> b/c he lost his scholly and had to pay full tuition as a 2L ( but got a scholly as a 3L)- and cant get a job back in his home state ( he was from the south). He liked the school, but didnt fall in love with the area. His words of wisdom were go to the school in the area you want to practice. Otherwise you will be stuck practicing in the schools area. This was supposed to be aguy totally gung ho about albany, and he told me that ( although i talked to him alone, away from other potential canidates). If you are sure you want to be in Albany afterwords- then it may be for you. If you have other plans and places that you want to be- then it might not work. Remember at all of these admitted events- the goal of the school is to sell you to come there, so you have to take everything that is said with a grain of salt.

Unfortunately, I live in Louisiana so I cannot attend the ASW because I just found out that I've been accepted. Let me know how it goes!

I agree as most Tier 3 schools are regional. a little side note: albany is ranked 113 on the new rankings....seems like they are rising every year!

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure they fell from the top 100 not that long ago? (Within the last couple of years?)

Wow really? it just seems like the rankings outside the top 50 fluctuates frequently. One year a school could be Tier 3 and the next Tier 2....*sighs this makes my life difficult lol
