I have one that's due the 15th and one that's due the 27th (which is also a much bigger payment)...I"m hoping I'll be able to get out of that last one.ptblazer wrote:I'm planning on having to make loan payments through August, since most of mine are due between the 10th and 15th, before class officially begins.LawSchoolPorFavor wrote:Hey guys- does anyone know anything about UG loan deferment? I know that our law school loans won't be dispersed until a few days before classes, but does this have any effect on other loan deferment (I'm trying to figure out if I'll have to pay my UG student loans through August)?

QFT. Look for that that green cross around Boulder or Denver and you'll see that the above is only a minor exaggeration... if that. I'm not a smoker, and I had no idea that 4/20 is a very special event (more so than it is more generally) in Boulder. On the plus side, you'll get to see hemp in all its many and varied formsfundamentallybroken wrote:People smoke it pretty openly here - on the street, at the bus stop, on the mall, whereever. Decriminilization has been very weird (and there's more medical pot shops in Denver than there are Starbucks. Think about that for a while...)
I can attest to the fact that the area immediately east of the law school (30th Street area) is a pretty nice place to live. The area is full of partying undergrads, to be sure, but it still manages to be fairly calm. The roads connecting to the school all have bike lanes, and the campus is littered with bike paths, if that is your thing. Further, there is quick and immediate access to the bus system which is always a good thing. Unfortunately, I don't get out much, so I can't give much advice about living in Boulder. However, this (skip to the 'Life in Boulder' part about 2/5 of the way in) might be helpful in getting an idea of potential livings areas.LeDique wrote:haha that's awesome. I haven't been looking for roommates because I'd rather live alone. I'm basically looking at the neighbors immediately east of the law school. Anywhere else I should really consider neighborhood-wise? I know it's come up in this thread before. Guess I'll dig later if no one wants to remind me.
If it isn't too weird or creepy, please feel free to send me a PM or whatnot about an area or even a particular building in which you're interested. I know what a pain it can be to find apartments from a distance, and I'd be happy to either check out the potential domicile or see if I can find anyone who has an impression of it. Maybe this isn't helpful, but I'm leaving it out there if you think that it might be. Of course, I offer this to anyone in the incoming class.
G'luck!

Yep, not an exaggeration at all - it was in the news a few months ago that Denver has more pot shops than it does Starbucks. Hell, in my zip code alone there's something like 200 shops. How in the hell do that many people get licenses in order to support this industry like that? Does everyone have chronic pain/insomnia??Outside Enemy wrote:QFT. Y'all were aware that CU is located in BOULDER, right? This should not be a surprise!

In California I've heard it's as simple as having "women problems" or "general anxiety" to get a card. But I'm pretty sure we still have more Starbucks than dispenseries. Then again, our priorities are somewhat suspect; we have more prisons than universities.fundamentallybroken wrote:Yep, not an exaggeration at all - it was in the news a few months ago that Denver has more pot shops than it does Starbucks. My new job is up in Boulder now (not out in Broomfield), so if yall are ever free for lunch OH, Maury, etc. let me know! <3

I got it as well...the packet I mean.
As for the summer readings there are a couple I might read for just for fun as I am a nerd like that. But for the most part, I will be mostly skipping the summer readings. I did purchase GTM though and am reading it at the moment.

How do you activate your email? I'm assuming its something like your student ID and/or birthdate and not an individually assigned code.

I activated mine. Go on the website and the link they have on the cover letter and then put in your student ID and I think it was SSN (don't remember) for sure. Anyways they give you a username and then a Colorado email.ptblazer wrote:How do you activate your email? I'm assuming its something like your student ID and/or birthdate.

The packet arrived last week here in NC. I have not activated my e-mail yet, but maybe that will be my excitement for the weekend.

I'm from Cali too, and I think last year there were more dispensaries in LA than Starbucks... they had a map of them in the LA Times and it was ridiculous. A lot of them are quite hidden.

Its stands for Master Promissory Note. Its just a document you sign agreeing to repay the loan under the specified terms. Don't worry, it isn't something that is easily overlooked when you are completing your loans.calified wrote:oldhippie wrote:just FYI, and i may be getting ahead of myself here, but i was poking around the CU link and my CU info pages and was able to find where my student loan amounts were and accept/decline the ones i did and didn't want. oh, and i learned about the need for an MPN (which y'all probably already knew) and was able to get that done and sent to CU. progress!!

Mine wasn't. I'm not going to fret unless it's not there after we're given instructions on managing financial aid.LeDique wrote:Was your scholarship included in there?
