I hope so! Cipion has a pretty big personality. BTW, have you chosen a vet yet? I need to get one for Cip - even though he's up to date on all his shots, I'd like to establish a vet for him ASAP just in case of emergency.

Has anyone in the thread moved themselves into Regents? If so, what is the loading dock area like? Is there an area to park an SUV with a U-Haul while I move in furniture via the freight elevator?

Just got settled into Regents today. Built a TV stand, coffee table, end table, and 2 nightstands in 4 hours. Awaiting the delivery of the larger items. I will be in Ikea furniture assembly mode until Sunday. Curious to see how the hell one assembles a couch...

Those of you who've already moved in to Regents: is the internet already set up? If not, who'd you contact to get that taken care of?

It was set up for me when I moved in, but you need to buy a wireless router. You can get them for under $30.

Thanks! By the way, was there already an ethernet cable plugged in for you to use, or should I bring one of my own if I want to hook my laptop up (before my router is delivered)?

I can't remember honestly. I would bring a cable to be safe.

Yes. I parked my SUV and a moving truck there for over an hour while I moved.

You will have to go down about 100 feet of driveway. Good luck getting a trailer in and out!

On the moving dock: depending on how many other people are there, you can pull in and up to the door. We had a truck on the dock itself for a couple hours, no big deal.

On the internet: Just plugged mine in and it is working great. They provided an ethernet cable for us.

If you are due for a phone upgrade, you might try that before switching plans.

I have an iphone4 on ATT and have great service in my apt. My boyfriend has an iphone3, also ATT in the same apt, and his service sucks. He gets a couple minutes/seconds of time if he restarts his phone, but then it goes back to aimless searching. It's really weird that one works but not the other...

Also, does anyone in Regents (or soon to be in Regents) have a power screwdriver? I would be eternally grateful if I could borrow one!

ATT is pretty much useless in my apartment. There's a spot on the couch where it works most of the time, but other than that I miss calls like nobody's business. I have a brand new Samsung Infuse 4G. The lady has the same problem on an iphone 3GS.

What kind of transportation cards are you all going to get for going downtown? And anyone have any pros/cons re: the metra and the buses?

The Chicago Card from CTA is the way to go. The 6 bus runs frequently right in front of regents, and it's only 2 bucks (and only 25 cents for each additional CTA ride within 2 hours).

I haven't used the metra, but it has a very strict fixed schedule. It will get you downtown faster than the bus (7 minutes vs 15 minutes), but if you don't plan properly you could end up waiting almost an hour for it.

The metra is awesome (fast, clean, safe) but as duckmoney said, it iis pretty infrequent except mornings and evenings. Still, it was my preferred method of getting downtown last year.

I have a drill that obviously serves as a power screwdriver.

This may have already been discussed but what is the parking situation on campus? I was down there today and it was just bananas, I had to parallel park for the first time in my life it was awful. Is there some parkign deck near by and if so does anyone know how much it costs to park there?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
