I would strongly advise everyone to visit the school before coming to a decision.

Student at UB Law, you just had a bad visit, or you heard something from someone?

I went to their admitted students day last year. Let's just say it was underwhelming. Buffalo went from #2 or #3 on my list to "there's no way I'm going here" over the span of the morning. I left at lunch to get hot wings at the original Duff's and then skipped town.

to be honest when i visited there about 2 months ago i got that exact same feeling. I couldnt exactly explain why i felt underwhelmed so i thought it was just nerves. What did you think was underwhelming?

The law school's ASD was the same day as the UG's ASD, so I got to compete for parking with a bunch of high schoolers. The city feels like a giant strip mall and the law school building wasn't much better. Their alumni panel was a joke and they didn't even spell my name right on my name tag. Also, they made every prospective student stand up and introduce themselves at the beginning of the day, wasting a good 30-45 minutes.

This was your mistake. Duff's wings are gross and Anchor Bar is overrated. Bob & John's all the way!

What the HELL are you talking about Duff's wings are gross they are incredible!! I do agree with your assessment of Anchor Bar though.

For people who really love Wings check out Bar Bill in East Aurora about 25 minutes from UB very good wings, no clue about Bob & John's never heard of it, where is that?

North Blo, on Hertel. I've heard Bar Bill is great. I thought Duff's was okay, just not the best. I didn't like how they come in pool of sauce and grease.

Just found my status checker information e-mail in my spam folder. That is always a good place for it I guess. UR as of 1/13. Hopefully decision will be rendered soon.

Did anyone get their actual decision on the site? I know the instructions on the website state they just provide you with "decision rendered" but mine is showing the actual decision. Don't know if I should take the decision seriously or not...

they have a policy to send the decisions via postal mail. If you have a decision, contact admissions. If you get decision renderded, expect the postal notice within 3-5 business days. If you get a packet, congrats! you are in. Scholly info if you get any will be in there. UB does not give a lot of scholarships out, especially to instate students. After 1L you can apply for ny state residence ( NY tutition is 17k, out of state is 29k.

I'm not sure when I went from complete into review because for some reason my status checker email went to my spam folder and by the time I checked my status finally I was already UR 1/13. Decesion made 1/23.

Also my status checker just changed to admitted! Super excited. I guess they are giving decisions over status checker now?

By the way- medians for this cycle are 3.6, 160

taxnstuff wrote:In at Buffalo, 159 3.01, white. im guessing the cpa & 2 years xp helped. still waiting on villanova/albany and the hail mary pass to uconn. Anyone have any idea of the reputations throughout new england between buffalo and albany? Ideally I want to live in vermont/new hampshire eventually but I couldnt find a decent school up there for tax attorneys that fit my numbers, so will probably settle for the in state tuition if albany low balls me.
Buffalo is definitely more suited for Western NY (Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse) and while Albany isn't exactly known for anything other than NY State Government jobs, it is literally right next to vermont so that could help. I would imagine though that Albany grads would have a hard time beating out University of Vermont and UNH grads for jobs in those two states.

ps-happy to see UB back in the top 100 at #84!
