Re: Duke Law Class of 2014
I'd just worry about taking care of business this semester before you start penciling yourselves in as Harvard transfers, Wachtell SAs, or SCOTUS clerks. More credits are on the line this semester then last....
Edit: Also, I say this in a disapproving, grumpy old man voice.

Is 1L OCI really pointless? I got a few preselects. Does anyone know of people getting jobs in past years? I'm not expecting a job and have applied elsewhere, but I figure it won't hurt to practice interviewing more and maybe there's a slim chance I'll strike gold. Am I completely off base here?

Re: Duke Law Class of 2014
For 1L OCI, if you're from a southern market (especially Alabama where firms usually recruit 1Ls rather than 2Ls) then you've got a shot, particularly if you did well last semester. Problem is we've got a lot of southerners and the market they usually want (Atlanta) is extremely difficult to crack as a 1L (exactly 1 person did last year).stewie27 wrote:Is 1L OCI really pointless? I suppose we get our briefs back after finals like they did with the memos last semester....?
Not looking forward to it. I have a feeling LARW is going to do some damage to my gpa.

If given a choice, would you choose Whitford over Chemistry?los blancos wrote:Was that by choice?Bosque wrote:No. I'm in Whitford.los blancos wrote:Do all 3Ls get Chem Lot parking?

It was not by choice. But I would have chosen it anyway in retrospect. Whitford is closer to the gym, and it was nice to be able to park there for campout.los blancos wrote:Was that by choice?Bosque wrote:No. I'm in Whitford.los blancos wrote:Do all 3Ls get Chem Lot parking?

I chose Whitford over Chemistry as well. Like Bosque said, close to the gym. Easy downhill sprint to school when running late everyday like Bosque and I are.
Also, I'm selling a 3BR/2BA house right off I-40 near Southpoint in Durham. 10 min from school. PM me if interested.

What classes should someone who is looking to go into transactional be taking 2L year?

Re: Duke Law Class of 2014
They came out for 2Ls and 3Ls on June 8th last year, and for 1Ls a little later. In 2010 everyone got all grades on June 17th.dukelaw1L wrote:When does Duke release spring grades? Before July?

This year they're due to the registrar June 1 with a release a "reasonable" amount of time thereafter.wiseowl wrote:They came out for 2Ls and 3Ls on June 8th last year, and for 1Ls a little later. Anyone know roughly which raw LRW scores will be 4.0's?

Pretty sure LARW professors use different grading scales (in terms of raw scores), so it's tough to say.dukelaw1L wrote:Anyone know roughly which raw LRW scores will be 4.0's?

OCI employer list is out, though I don't think it's complete yet. (I can think of at least one firm that's coming and isn't listed). Looks pretty solid, though.

Where can you access the list? I am not sure why I really care but I want to look at it.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
